The first Filipino American co-owned hospital in the U.S. partners with the Office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell for the community event in Historic Filipinotown
Mark your calendars! LA Downtown Medical Center (LADMC) will sponsor a Community Health & Wellness Day on Friday, November 15, 2019. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the medical center located at 1711 West Temple St., Los Angeles, CA. 90026 – at the heart of Historic Filipinotown.
The Health & Wellness event is FREE and open to the public and will provide education on common chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity. In addition, the following complimentary screenings will be provided: blood pressure, blood sugar, physical strength testing and more. The center will highlight services available to help attendees or their loved ones manage these illnesses and allow consultation with physicians and other health care providers.
The participating community partner is the office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, 13th District. “It’s important to me that every community has access to great medical care and guidance by doctors and nurses, so I hope this event will have a great turnout,” said Councilmember O’Farrell.
“Our goal is to help improve the community’s quality of life through health screening identification and education,” said LADMC President Vicki Rollins, the first Filipino American to co-own a hospital in the U.S. Her co-owner is Bill Nelson.
The LADMC’s Community Health & Wellness Day will also host Dr. Ravinder Singh, neurologist and author of the book "Not Tonight I Have A Headache". This book is the most comprehensive and exhaustive book to date that integrates both western and eastern treatments of this widespread malady.
