ABS-CBN TVplus and PAGASA partner to bring weather updates to more viewers

Filipinos no longer have to go online to get real-time updates on the weather as ABS-CBN TVplus and state weather bureau PAGASA have joined forces to make information freely accessible minus an internet connection using INFOplus.

Walang Pasok updates, also on TVplus

Filipinos no longer have to go online to get real-time updates on the weather as ABS-CBN TVplus and state weather bureau PAGASA have joined forces to make information freely accessible minus an internet connection using INFOplus.

INFOplus is the new public service feature of TVplus that lets users easily access information like weather bulletins with just a push of the red button on the TVplus remote.

According to ABS-CBN head of access Charles Lim, INFOplus is proof that more Filipinos benefit when the private sector and government agencies work together towards a common goal.

“For the past 65 years, ABS-CBN has always been guided by its mission to be in the service of the Filipino. INFOplus proves that together with you, we can help more Filipinos,” Lim said, addressing the heads of PAGASA and other government agency partners of TVplus.

Lim also added that information that ABS-CBN TVplus will broadcast via INFOplus will reach more Filipinos as there are eight million TVplus boxes present in households and vehicles.

Besides PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, ABS-CBN TVplus also joined forces with MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority) for traffic updates and NDRRMC (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council) for essential advisories on earthquakes and other disasters.

Updates such as ‘walang pasok’ announcements and price of commodities, meanwhile, will be provided by ABS-CBN News, while job alerts will be delivered by TrabaHanap.

INFOplus adds to ABS-CBN TVplus’ previously launched public service feature, the built-in emergency warning broadcast system (EWBS) that delivers safety alerts and tips on how to stay safe when disasters like earthquakes strikes. More information about INFOplus will be announced soon.

ABS-CBN, which is rapidly transitioning into an agile digital company, is the first media and entertainment company to make the historic switch to digital terrestrial television when it launched ABS-CBN TVplus in 2015 that has now sold 8 million boxes as of July 2019.
