Bangkok's rich culture and majestic fair shine on "Pia's Postcards"

February 06, 2020 AT 05:12 PM

Pia Wurtzbach returns to Bangkok, her most visited city, in the new episode of “Pia’s Postcards,” airing this Sunday (Feb. 9) on Metro Channel.

Queen P got the chance to explore one of the longest-running temple fairs at the Wat Saket or the Golden Mount Temple, which houses Buddha’s relic, making it one of the most sacred temples in Bangkok.

At the fair, Pia observed some Buddhist customs like offering lotus flower to the Buddha statue as a sign of respect and lighting incense sticks for prosperity, as well as launching her own krathong, a traditional act of asking for forgiveness.

The Temple Fair showcases different Thai delicacies like the Chao Tan Buriram or watermelon-flavored rice crispy, Khanom Chak or sticky rice flour with coconut, and Nam Linchi or pink lotus drink which is exclusively sold during the festival for the benefit of a temple known for taking care of people with HIV and AIDs.

The lovely host also stopped by other temples such as the Wat Arun or The Temple of Dawn, the Wat Traimit which houses the biggest golden Buddha, and the Wat Pho which boasts of its reclining Buddha.

Pia likewise dropped by the Or Tor Kor Market, the world’s cleanest and best organized food market, as well as the Siam Niramit, where one can immerse in Thailand’s culture through various activities and a must-see theatre show.

The beauty queen got to cross two things off her bucket list on this trip—getting to wear Thailand’s national costume complete with the Chada headdress and visiting the Thipsamai Restaurant, which is known as the oldest and best Pad Thai joint in Bangkok.

Embark on a culturally-enriching and appetizing trip with Pia on the newest episode of “Pia’s Postcards,” premiering this Sunday (Feb. 9), 7pm on Metro Channel.
