Kapamilya love reaches Taal evacuees in ABS-CBN’s “Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal” campaign

Kapamilya network continues efforts for Taal evacuees

ABS-CBN continues to make good of its promise to leave no Kapamilya behind through its “Tulong-Tulong sa Taal” public service campaign, which aims to unite the nation in helping all Filipinos affected by the recent eruption of Taal Volcano.

As of February 4, ABS-CBN Foundation’s humanitarian assistance arm Sagip Kapamilya has gone to 113 evacuation centers and several affected communities where 21,322 families or 106,610 individuals received relief packs, while 5,403 people enjoyed hot meals from the soup kitchen and 663 individuals were given psychological first aid.

Apart from relief operations, the Kapamilya network also brought “serbisyo at saya” to evacuation centers through the “Kapamilya Love Daily” events, where ABS-CBN employees and artists played games with evacuees, did storytelling with the kids, and led the distribution of relief packs and hygiene kits.

Evacuees were also given Ligtas Bags, which contain necessities for survival in case a disaster or emergency happens and forces them to flee their homes again. Evacuees were also provided access to information and entertainment through the viewing stations set up by SKYcable and the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.

Meanwhile, Kuya Kim Atienza also led an information campaign on ABS-CBN where he gave out facts on the eruption and tips on disaster preparedness that were aired on TV, radio, and digital, on top of the regular news reports and updates from ABS-CBN News.

In a video, ABS-CBN News anchor Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo thanked all the Filipinos who donated, volunteered, and offered prayers for our countrymen affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano, making them feel true Kapamilya love.

“Sama-sama nating hinaharap ang hamon kaya naman sa gitna ng pagsubok marami tayong Kapamilyang napapangiti at naaalalayan (We face this challenge as one unit and that is how we are able to assist and bring joy to many Kapamilyas even at this difficult time),” she said.

True to its mission to be in the service of the Filipino, ABS-CBN was one of the first to arrive in evacuations centers to provide assistance to the thousands of families that were forced to flee their homes as heavy ash fall began to cover the entire Taal island and nearby towns in Batangas and Cavite last January 12. Under the banner campaign of “Tulong-

Tulong sa Taal,” Sagip Kapamilya’s relief operations will continue and intensify as it aims to reach as many evacuees as possible, even those who have returned to their homes after the alert level went down. Clean-up efforts are currently being done as well in schools to help students get back on track in their studies.

ABS-CBN Foundation is still accepting in-kind and cash donations for its Taal relief operations.
