Jake Zyrus sends a message of love this Pride Month

Jake Zyrus counters negative vibes and uncertainties with a message of love in celebration of Pride Month through his latest single “Love Even If” released under Star Music.

“With all the negativities around, love is the modest contribution one can offer. Don’t get tired of loving even if it hurts or becomes difficult. Everybody loves you and will remember great things about you anyway when you’re gone,” he said.

“Love Even If,” now part of Spotify’s Bahaghari playlist, was self-penned by Jake, together with Trisha Denise and ABS-CBN’s creative director Jonathan Manalo. It is one of the tracks in Jake’s “Evolution” album out last year.

The singer-songwriter also talked about his upcoming single “Miss You In The Moonlight,” which is slated for released this July.

“I’ve been experimenting with different genres due to the transition of my voice and this is the first jazz pop music that I will release because this is the genre that I know which fits my voice and I’m most comfortable with,” he revealed.

The new song, composed by Gab Tagadtad and also produced by Jonathan, talks about someone having difficulties of going through a break up he caused and elicits feelings of regret and hopes for a second chance.

Meanwhile, a documentary based on Jake’s life recently triumphed in this year’s US International Film and Video Festival.

The video, titled “Jake and Charice,” received the Gold Camera award for the documentary under the social issues category of the global award-giving body.

It takes viewers on the Kapamilya singer’s journey from being known as Charice—the first Asian artist to have a Billboard top 10 hit—to coming out as a transgender man now known as Jake Zyrus. The video documented his life-changing decision, the new challenges he faced, and his courage towards finding his own voice.

“Jake and Charice” was produced by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and Documentary Japan in association with NHK Enterprises, and co-produced by ABS-CBN. It premiered in Japan in November 2019.
