ABS-CBN Foundation International Encourages Laughter as a Means of Giving Back November 23, 2021 AT 09:59 AM SHARE TWEET ABS-CBN Foundation International hopes to make a difference in the lives of many Filipino scholars through the education program: Programa Genio. Programa Genio works with public schools and communities to discover and develop the inherent genio or genius in every child. Donations help provide children the necessities to acquire an education for an entire school year. The Foundation believes that laughter is not just the best medicine, but that it can also be an effective means to express and practice charity. One of the ways to support Programa Genio is by watching the docu-comedy special: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NED! (Who is He?). The event is hosted by ABS-CBN Global Head for Creative Services Ned Legaspi, who is also a well-versed comedian. The hybrid format combines filmed comedy performances with documentary elements. Ned brings together some of the Philippines’ top-caliber comedians, with surprise cameos from top celebrities, as they share laugh-out-loud insights and commentaries on the life of a Martial Law baby who is now turning 50. All proceeds of “Happy Birthday, Ned” goes to ABS-CBN Foundation International’s Programa Genio, since Ned was also a scholar once upon a time. The funds will go towards books, school supplies, meals, transportation, counselling, and tuition.
