“MMK” highlights the importance of of protection from online scammers this Saturday

February 19, 2021 AT 08:35 PM

“MMK” brings a cautionary tale of an OFW who falls prey to online scams this Saturday (February 20).

Find out the story of Shiela, played by Dimples Romana, an OFW who will meet a person whom she would find comfort in and ease the pain of being away from her family but would turn out to be a scammer.

Because of her husband's illness and mounting debts, Shiela tries her luck in a foreign land to be a domestic helper. Things do not turn out well because she ends up working for abusive employers. But because she needs to earn for her family, she continues to work for them.

As time passes, Shiela becomes lonely and depressed. She tries to talk to her husband but instead of getting the support she needs, he accuses her of having an affair.

She also attempts to join a church group. But like her husband, the church leader just asks her to pray for all her sorrows.

One day, as she explores her social media accounts, a man sends her a friend request and asks her if she wants to be friends with him.

Will this person lighten the loneliness and problems away or is the friendship he offers is just a front to his inner motive?

Meanwhile, viewers should also catch Charo Santos as she gets to talk to a representative of Love Scam Organization, a group that offers assistance to OFWs who get trapped in online scams.
