Filipino moms get the beauty queen treatment and their much-deserved moment in the spotlight in “It’s Showtime’s” “Reina ng Tahanan,” a new pageant that celebrates their beauty, brains, and talent.

Its maiden episode on Saturday (May 29) gained emotional responses from viewers, who praised the program for giving mothers an opportunity to unwind, share heartwarming lessons and stories, and empower themselves.

“Sincerest congratulations on the new segment, @itsShowtimeNa! Laughter, entertainment, tears, so much warmth and so much heart. This is so beautiful,” said Twitter user @ViFeelings.

User @sirmarkjoseph said, “Grabe! Thank you @itsShowtimeNa for this new segment Reinanay! Daming realizations. Daming aral! The best talaga ang ABS-CBN!”

“Ang refreshing naman makita ng mga nanay sa Showtime stage. They really deserve the glam, the exposure, the fun and the break,” posted @_10norio.

Each episode of “Reina ng Tahanan” puts focus on three moms or ‘reinanay’s’ who will compete in three rounds. In “Queen-troduction,” they will introduce themselves à la beauty queen, share their life stories, and answer trick questions in the wittiest way they can. After this, they get to show off their talents in “The Greatest Showmom.”

The competition reaches an emotional peak in the “Inay Thank You” round, where the ‘reinanay’s’ have to answer a question that they will be hearing for the first time ever from a surprise guest – a relative, a friend, or a neighbor.

“Reina ng Tahanan” found its first daily winner in Helen Uvas, a 53-year-old mom from Quezon City who took home P10,000 in cash, a sash, a scepter, and a crown.

Meanwhile,” more world-class performances await viewers in the “Tawag ng Tanghalan’s” quarterfinals, where Froilan Cedilla of Ilocos Norte and Reiven Umali of Cavite were the first to be named winners.

The vocal battles resume this week as theater actress Aixia Mallary, former service crew Kiro Remon, conservatory graduate Faye Yupano, online seller Erika Buensuceso, and student Psalm Manalo go head-to-head. The two finalists who will get the highest scores by the end of the week will qualify for the semifinals where they will battle with Froilan and Reiven.

Viewers can get their daily dose of good vibes from “It’s Showtime,” which gives Filipinos a platform to showcase their talents, inspire others through their life stories, and make their dreams come true.
