Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C., ABS-CBN TFC to Present Exciting Musical Showcase Celebrating 75th Anniversary of PH-US Relations

June 04, 2021 AT 09:02 AM

Sizzling temperatures are on the way as U.S. officially began Summer 2021 in June but burning with more meaningful fervor is this year's grand celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and the United States.

Come June 15, the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. and ABS-CBN TFC will join hands to shine before the world the "75th & Beyond: A Celebration of Enduring Partnership for Peace and Prosperity", a LIVE entertainment presentation honoring Philippines-U.S. relations on the Facebook account of the Embassy, @PHinUSA.  On July 4, the musical showcase will be aired as a special on iWantTFC, TFC on IPTV and TFC on cable and satellite globally.

For this special occasion, ABS-CBN TFC will deliver both current superstars and rising stars in the Filipino music industry.  No less than the Concert King of the Philippines, Martin Nievera, will host the musical hour with popular Myx VJ Ai dela Cruz.  Meanwhile, the live reception will be hosted by ABS-CBN North America News Bureau Chief TJ Manotoc.  VIP dignitaries from various countries will grace the reception at the Philippine Embassy on Massachusetts Avenue.

Nievera will also perform virtually from the Philippines and joining him is an elite line-up:
  • Morissette, the singer with a five-octave vocal range, whose videos on YouTube have garnered hundreds of millions of views, whose Tagalog songs have been covered by singers of various races, and who became the first ever Wish 107.5 Hall of Famer and first Filipina Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artist to debut at number 7 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart;
  • Sheryn Regis, the Crystal Voice of Asia, multi-awarded singer in both Philippine and international singing competitions, and who, at one point in her career, also became Queen of Philippine Teleserye Theme Songs;
  • up-and-coming Jeremy G whose impressive finals stint in The Voice-Teens Philippines helped earn him a slot in ASAP G!, the exciting teen group in the prestigious ASAP Natin 'To, the premier weekend global Filipino TV variety show; and
  • the promising Sab, a unique indie singer-songwriter who has caught the attention of many with her coming-of-age, self-penned debut, "She", followed by "Dancing in the Dark".  She released this year her third single, "Always Stay the Same" under Star Music.
"Many will say that 75 years is a long time to stay as friends, partners, and allies, but I believe this is an undeniable testament to the depth and quality of the bilateral relationship of the Philippines and the U.S.. Our ties have withstood the test of time and have served both our countries and peoples well. This special celebration with TFC captures the essence of our partnership with the U.S.: trusted, enduring, excellent and forward-looking," said Philippine Ambassador to the U.S. Jose Manuel G. Romualdez.

"ABS-CBN TFC has helped promote not only the best of the Filipino but also cultural understanding between the Filipino and other societies by serving as a connecting bridge on the air and online for over 25 years," said ABS-CBN North and Latin America Managing Director Jun Del Rosario. "Our participation in this event is to celebrate the goodwill generated by years of mutual understanding."
