As the world continues to respond to the pandemic, the 28th Annual Pistahan Virtual Parade and Festival hopes to spread the spirit of kababayan and kapwa through an online celebration this weekend, August 14-15, from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. (Pacific) on both days.

According to Filipino American Arts Exposition President Al Perez, “Pistahan virtual celebration brings our people together even if we are physically apart. We can reach communities beyond the Bay Area and across the world to celebrate the many wonderful aspects of our culture and traditions, bringing hope and joy to get us through these very tough times.”

With the theme: Renew, Recover, and Rise Together, the virtual event features messages of hope and healing, a tribute to Filipino health workers, and COVID vaccine resources.

The online celebration starts with the #PistaHands video  that combines a popular video challenge seen on YouTube and TikTok, with a Pistahan twist added to it.

Pistahan Together at Home encourages everyone to support Filipino takeout available in their respective areas to help sustain businesses.

There are eight (8) virtual pavilions that cover the following areas of interest: Art, Culinary, Dance, Health, Heritage, Innovation, Sports, and the Pistahan Tavern. Participants from around the world can choose whichever sparks their passion.

The TFC portion on Sunday, August 15, at 2:30 P.M. features the hottest all-female P-Pop group BINI, multi-talented singer-songwriter SAB, Tawag ng Tanghalan alumna Gigi de Lana, and singer-actor Kyle Echarri.

Pistahan is the flagship project of the Filipino American Arts Exposition (FAAE), a grassroots, nonprofit organization that contributes to the artistic and cultural pride of the Filipino American community by promoting Filipino American art, music, film, and dance.
