The record-breaking MYX Awards 2021, which garnered over 4.3 million tweets from around the world and has so far accumulated over 1.6 million video views online, will have its television premiere this Saturday (August 14) at 8 pm.
The 4 million tweets generated in last year’s MYX Awards show was exceeded in this year’s virtual event held last Saturday (August 7), as #MYXAwards2021 and big winner SB19 ruled the trends courtesy of A’TINs who landed #SB19atMYXAwards2021, #SB19, and #SB19MYX2021AllKill among the night’s top hashtags.
Completing the top 10 hashtags of the night are those related to International Video of the Year winner BTS, performer BGYO, New Artist of the Year nominee Maine Mendoza, host Edward Barber and award presenter Maymay Entrata known together as MayWard, and another nominee Darren Espanto.
BTS, SB19, and BGYO were also named top celebrities on Twitter during the awards night along with Collaboration of the Year and Mellow Video of the Year winner Ben&Ben and highly anticipated performer Ed Sheeran, who treated fans to an acoustic version of his single, “Bad Habits.”
Meanwhile, the uploaded #MYXAwards2021 videos on MYX’s Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel have garnered a combined 1.6 million views as of writing. Some of most viewed on these platforms are the “MAPA,” “He’s Into Her,” and “Upuan” performances of SB19, BGYO, and Ben&Ben respectively.
The musical event, which was held virtually for the second year in a row, honored the hottest music acts in the past year and featured performances by foreign artists. Aside from Ed Sheeran, LANY, AJ Mitchell, Alec Benjamin, Clinton Kane, Jack Kays, James TW, Joel Corry, John K, JP Saxe, Lukas Graham, MAX, Maximillian, New Hope Club, Ritt Momney, T1419, Tom Grennan, Valley, and Pink Sweat$ rendered exclusive numbers for their Filipino fans.
The event also showcased Filipino talent throughout the show. Ebe Dancel, Inigo Pascual, Kiana V, Leanne & Naara, Maris Racal, Nameless Kids, Rico Blanco, and Zild treated viewers with their latest music. KZ Tandingan, Bayang Barrios, Cooky Chua, Noel Cabangon, and Yeng Constantino meanwhile sang the biggest hits of Pinoy folk-rock band Asin, which was honored with the MYX Magna award.
