ABS-CBN HEARTTHROBS TAKE ON “TRUTH OR DARE” CHALLENGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR OPERATION ODETTE

Actor Joshua Garcia took the hot seat and bravely answered questions about his love life and faced exciting dares on the debut episode of “Truth or Dare” benefit interactive show series, the second fund-raising activity of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-ahon: Isang Daan Sa Pagtutulungan” for the benefit of typhoon Odette survivors.

Hosts Alora Sasam and Darla Sauler were curious about Joshua’s love life now that he is single. The “Viral Scandal” star opened up, “Nakaka-miss ‘yung may nilalambing. Miss ko na ‘yung ganun na feeling. Miss ko na ‘yung may inaalagaan ako. Siguro hindi pa ngayon. But I can wait.”

He admitted that previous trust issues made him fearful of falling in love again, but he’s not closing his heart to the possibility. For him, having a girlfriend inspires him to become a better person, but he also explains, “Even if I don’t have a girlfriend, I’m happy that I’m becoming the best version of myself.”

Before Alora and Darla Sauler could throw questions or dares at Joshua, viewers had to send a certain amount of diamonds and virtual gifts on Kumu. Joshua opened the stream with a live performance of his viral dance, which has amassed 93.5 million views on TikTok to date.

When the total diamonds reached 800,000, Joshua accepted the first dare to play a song on his guitar. He gladly obliged and even sang along while strumming “Torete” and “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay.”

Sensing the romance in the air, netizens wanted to know which female Kapamilya star he wishes to be text mates with.  If given the chance, Joshua said it would be actress Ivana Alawi. He also revealed that they had previously texted in preparation for a YouTube collaboration, but it did not materialize.

Curious about Joshua’s relationship with Ivana, Alora and Darla asked the famous “jojowain o totropahin” question. Joshua answered, “Siyempre jojowain. I mean, come on, choosy ka pa ba? I mean, mabait, maganda, sexy...” However, Joshua also explained, “Pero di kasi lahat ng tao meant para magkarelasyon, alam mo 'yon? May nakatadhana sayo na mamemeet mo lang para maging kaibigan mo.”

Joshua bravely accepted the one of the most requested dares after hitting two million diamonds, which was to now call Ivana on the phone. Darla also posed the question of “jojowain o totropahin” to Ivana to which she quickly responded, “Secret!”

Throughout the night, Joshua was asked to do more calls to fellow stars such as Daniel Padilla, Dimples Romana, and his “Darna: The TV Series” co-star and former love team partner Janella Salvador.

Joshua also got on a call with his “Viral Scandal” leading lady Charlie Dizon. When the actress asked why Joshua called, he simply replied, “Miss na kita eh!”

For the next nine nights, various Kapamilya hotties will be satisfying viewers’ curiosity while also encouraging them to help raise funds for Odette victims. Lined up for tonight (January 20) are RISE boys Anthony Jennings, Jeremiah Lisbo, JC Alcantara, and Aljon Mendoza, while tomorrow (January 21) will feature teleserye hunks Paulo Avelino and JC De Vera. Fans can also expect Zanjoe Marudo, Hyubs Azarcon, LA Tenorio, Joao Constancia, Jameson Blake, Jeremy Glinoga, Seth Fedelin, Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, BGYO, Carlo Aquino, Jerome Ponce, Nikko Natividad, Edward Barber, Robi Domingo, and Luis Manzano to face the “Truth or Dare” challenge.

“Truth or Dare” followed the “By Request” Benefit Concerts which raised P5.18 million from the performances of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Kyle Echarri, Ogie Alcasid, KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad, Jed Madela, Gigi De Lana and GG Vibes Band, Moira Dela Torre with Jason Marvin and I Belong to the Zoo, Darren Espanto, Erik Santos, and Gary and Kiana Valenciano.

As of January 19, ABS-CBN Foundation has given aid to over 113,000 families through collected donations. Aside from donating cash, in-kind donations, or virtual gifts through the event platforms, people can also help by purchasing P100 or P400 Tulong Bag donation vouchers on Lazada and Shopee. These donation vouchers provide rice and canned goods to individuals and families that were affected by the typhoon.

More juicy conversations will happen on “Truth or Dare” every 8 p.m. on FYE Channel on Kumu, ABS-CBN Entertainment Facebook page and YouTube channel, iWantTFC, and SKYcable Channel 955 HD and Channel 155 SD until January 28. The DSWD Authority/Solicitation Permit No. of this campaign is DSWD-SB-SP-00026-21, which is valid nationwide until May 28, 2022.
