Toni Gonzaga defends sister Alex from Kim Chiu fans

<div><img alt="" src="" align="left"/>Toni Gonzaga defended younger sister Alex from the criticisms of Kim Chiu’s fans, who took offense with Alex’s comments about Kim’s weight issues. Toni explained that the comments that Alex made in her entertainment show about Kim being thin were anything but malicious. “Ako, napanood ko ‘yung sinabi ng kapatid ko pero so far sa napanood ko wala naman siyang nasabing below the belt. Nag-comment lang siya at nag-follow up lang siya regarding the issue.” The actress-host said that being a talk-show host herself of an entertainment program, Alex is entitled to her own opinion. “I think they have the freedom to express themselves,” she pointed out. Toni said that while she understands the reaction of Kim’s fans, their criticisms have deeply affected her sister. “Siguro nagkataon lang talaga na very sensitive ang mga fans, which in-explain ko sa kapatid ko kasi na-hurt din siya,” Toni shared. Toni pointed out that Alex is still a beginner in hosting and still has a lot to learn about dealing with negative feedback from her detractors. “Sabi ko ganun talaga. Kailangan maging makapal ang balat mo diyan hindi ka puwedeng balat-sibuyas. Kailangan handa ka sa mga ganyang ibabato sa ‘yo. Tapos ako din daw tinira na rin [ng mga fans],” Toni said. Toni explained that she had her share of criticisms when she transferred to ABS-CBN in 2005. “Mas maraming masasakit na salita akong natanggap nung lumipat ako [ng istasyon]. Nalulungkot siya kasi ayaw niya ng ganon pero siyempre nagsisimula pa lang siya,” Toni explained. Since she is more experienced in the business, Toni advised her younger sister to take the criticisms constructively and strive to be a better host. “Sabi ko, ‘Parte ‘yan ng job mo.’ Sabi ko, ‘After nito matututo ka, mati-train ka bilang host. Dapat meron kang limitation hanggang kung saan lang ang sasabihin mo sa TV.’”</div>
