Ikinuwento ni Gretchen ang tunay na nangyari. “<i>Sa sala ‘yung eksena sabi ni Direk </i>Francis Pacion, ‘<i>Hoy</i>, La Greta, <i>tanggalin mo ‘yung</i> pearls <i>mo kasi nasa bahay ka.’ Katwiran ko naman &#x27;di ba</i> Ashi<i> ako sa teleserye? Sabi ko, </i>‘Why? Is it part of the ten commandments? Thou shall not wear pearls?’ So<i> pinayagan na niya ako.</i>” </div><div><br/></div><div>Blessing in disguise na rin ang nangyari sa pagtanggap ng role ni Gretchen sa <i>Princess And I</i>. Matatandaang disappointed ang aktres noong ianunsyo na hindi na tuloy ang teleseryeng <i>Alta</i> at natagalan bago umoo si Gretchen na tanggapin <i>Princess And I.</i> Dahil sa success ng teleserye ngayon, Gretchen is happy she accepted the role. “If you learn to trust God, just let Him decide for you. He’ll give you what’s best. Last interview <i>natin umiiyak ako, hindi na tuloy ‘yung Alta, sabi ko,</i> I’ll just trust and even if it was so difficult, you just have to trust. Now I see, I really see the power of God,” paliwanag pa niya. </div><div><br/></div><div>Ayon kay Gretchen nakakahawa ang energy ng kanyang mga batang co-stars gaya nina Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Khalil Ramos at Enrique Gil. </div><div><br/></div><div>Nakapagbibigay din daw siya ng advice kay Kathryn pagdating sa buhay at sa pag-ibig. “<i>I</i>-research <i>mo ang buhay ko, ‘yun ang wag mong gagawin at may mangyayaring mabuti sa buhay mo</i>,” natatawang kuwento ni La Greta sa kanyang payo sa lead star ng teleserye. “<i>Alam mo</i> and I also tell my daughter this, <i>lahat ng pagkakamali, siguro nagawa ko na ‘yon</i>. It may have sounded a joke when I said it but I’m serious<i> &#x27;di ba? Nagkamali na ako</i> in the past, <i>wag n’yong gagayahin. Alam n’yo na kung anong tamang</i> road to take.”  </div><div><br/></div><div>Lubos-lubos naman ang pasasalamat ni Gretchen sa mga sumusuporta sa <i>Princess And I</i> at naibulalas niyang extended ang kanilang programa hanggang Nobyembre.</div>

The actress says she treats the young cast of the teleserye like her own barkada.
