122813-Robin_main.jpgThe 39th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night was a high-spirited event packed with celebrities, colorful production numbers, and hard-earned awards. Spotted doing interviews on the red carpet were Divine Lee and Raymond Gutierrez. Early birds included Markki Stroem, Eugene Domingo, and Bela Padilla who arrived solo. My Little Bossings stars Ryzza Mae Dizon and James 'Bimby' Aquino skipped the red carpet to prepare for their production number backstage.

KC Concepcion and Kris Aquino hosted the event. The show formally opened with a Christmas medley led by Xyriel Manabat and Kiray Celis. They were later joined by boy group Chicser. 10,000 Hours actresses Bela Padilla, Carla Humphries, Wynn-Wynn Marquez, and Yassi Pressman also performed a sexy dance number. The cast of Pedro Calunsod Ang Batang Martir also performed a number with highlights from the movie.

Robin Padilla's action film 10,000 Hours led the awards race with 13 awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Joyce Bernal), and Best Actor. The star admitted that he hopes all the recognition that his film received can translate into box-office success as well. 'Ang laban dito talagang yung ganda ng pelikula. Ang pelikula namin may kinalaman sa mga buhay natin. Hindi kami nag-e-entertain, yung mga kapatid natin sa ibang pelikula, sila'y nag-e-entertain. Kami iba. Nagmumulat kami kaya mayayabang kami kasi totoo yung sinasabi namin,' he shared after the awards presentation held last December 27 at the Meralco theater in Ortigas.

On winning the Best Actor award, Robin admitted he is thankful for honor. He bested his nephew Daniel Padilla, Vice Ganda, and ER Ejercito for the award. 'Maraming salamat. Sabi ko nga worth it ito kung magkano kikitain nung Metro Manila Film Festival. Kung P800M, eh di P800M 'to. Hawak ko, hinuli ko, salamat,' he said. During his acceptance speech, Robin thanked his wife Mariel Rodriguez and his nephew Daniel and niece Bela who were all in the audience as well as the cast and crew of 10,000 Hours, including director Joyce Bernal.

Pagpag won two awards for Youth Choice and Best in Makeup. Daniel Padilla also won Male Star of the Night. The teen heartthrob arrived in a formal suit and escorted leading lady Kathryn Bernardo all night. 'Maraming salamat sa award na ito. Salamat sa pagtitiwala. Para ito sa mga bata,' Daniel says while accepting the award.

Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy also won two awards for Most Gender Sensitive film and Second Best Picture. According to host KC Concepcion, third Best Picture winner My Little Bossings broke MMFF box office records by raking in P50 million pesos on its opening day.
