Mula sa balita ng Showbiz Inside Report, naglabas na nga ng statement ang kampo nina Marjorie Barretto hinggil sa mga kontrobersiyal na litrato na kumalat sa internet. Ayon sa kanyang legal counsel na Kapunan, Garcia and Castillo Law Offices, ang dalawang litratong lumabas sa internet ay walang pahintulot mula sa kanilang kliyenteng si Marjorie at hindi ito for “public consumption.”

Aniya, “Over the weekend, two (2) private photos of our client, Ms. Marjorie Barretto, were uploaded and circulated in the Internet. Eventually, these photos were passed on and reposted by bloggers and Internet users. Our client did not authorize the posting of her nude photos and they were never intended for public consumption.”

Ayon pa sa kanila ang pagkalat ng mga litrato ni Marjorie ay paglabag sa Republic Act no. 9995 o ang Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 na nagsasabing, “The public should be reminded and warned that Republic Act No. 9995 clearly and categorically punishes the act of publishing or broadcasting, or causing to be published or broadcasted, whether in print or broadcast media or through the internet, the photo of a person showing her private areas. To emphasize, the subject photos were intended not to be made public and the dissemination of these private photos was without our client’s consent.”

Nasa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na diumano ang kaso at iniimbestigahan. Sinabi din ng kanyang legal counsel na mananagot ang sinumang nagpakalat ng mga litratong ito. “The matter of the dissemination and uploading of the aforementioned photos is already the subject of an on-going investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation. We are taking all legal steps to ensure that the right to privacy of our client is respected. We will pursue all the appropriate legal actions necessary to ensure that those principally responsible for this criminal action are punished.”

Ayon pa sa statement na nilabas, mananagot din ang sinumang lalabag dito. “The penalty for violating RA 9995 is imprisonment of not less than three (3) years but not more than seven (7) years or a fine of not less than Php100,000.00 but not more than Php500,000.00 or both. If a juridical person is the violator (i.e. broadcasting company), its license or franchise shall be automatically be deemed revoked and the officers of the company shall be deemed liable as well. RA 9995 specifically identifies the ones who will be made liable -- editor and the reporter in case of print media and the station manager, editor and broadcaster in case of broadcast media.”

Sa naging panayam ng programang Cinema News, nagsalita na rin ang anak ni Marjorie na si Julia Barretto hinggil sa isyung muling kinasasangkutan ng kanyang Ina. Aniya, “Everything will be okay again, that’s all I can say, everything’s going to be okay. Siyempre, I don’t like it that my Mom was the one being talked about. My Mom is strong, my family, we’re also strong. Everything happens for a reason. Hindi naman ito mangyayari kung walang reason.” Ayon kay Julia, hindi na rin daw kailangan pang ipaliwananag ni Marjorie ang mga nangyayari sa anak dahil alam daw nito na naiintindihan nila ang nangyayari.

Inilarawan din niya kung gaano katatag ang kanyang Ina sa muling kinahaharap na pagsubok na ito ng kanilang pamilya. “We all know our Mom, grabe, she is so amazing. My Mom is a strong woman, there’s nothing to worry about. Naku, talaga, watch, in the end, everything will be okay, everything will be quiet uli. She is a strong woman, grabe her strength.”
