Alex Diaz, one of the Star Magic Batch 2013 artists, might be new in the industry, but he knows it takes a tough spirit to survive showbiz. “It’s definitely challenging because everyday you have to prove yourself. Everyday you need to maintain what you did,” he said.

The budding actor said he is aware of the fact that show business is not a walk in the park yet he feels fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be part of it. “It’s such a high competition. Pero at the same time you just feel blessed because you managed to make it here,” he added.

Alex relayed that he came back in the Philippines in 2006. “I was born here but lumaki po ako sa Canada,” he said. When asked why he chose to stay here, he exp;ained, “I think it’s a plan of my parents for me to grow up in a Filipino culture kasi the family bond is closer and it’s easier to keep me away from bad influences.”

When asked how he started in showbiz, he replied, “I used to do commercials when I was in first year college, tapos nakita po ako ng Star Magic and then ‘yun po, from then tuloy-tuloy na ‘yun.”

Was it always a dream to become an artist? “It was always a dream. The benchmark is always going to be Michael Jackson,” he revealed. Alex said that he wants to have an album someday and direct his own show like the late King of Pop. Locally, Alex revealed that he looks up to John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo as his favorite love team. “They are definitely the benchmark for acting of this generation,” he commented.

On his relationship with his Star Magic 2013 batch mates, Alex shared, “It’s like we’re brothers and sisters already. Tapos ‘yun nga po we care for each other, we help each other, we have a very tight bond.” When asked who he’s closest to, he commented, “I am very close to Julia (Barretto), she’s the one I talk to when I have a problem.” He’s also close to Jon Lucas. “He’s the first one who I got talked to.”

Currently, Alex is doing a lot of auditions for the upcoming shows on ABS-CBN and he is very positive that he will make it into one of the shows soon.
