Bugoy Carino, who he has been on Goin’ Bulilit for about five years now, can still remember his first taping day. “Basta kasabay ko si Izzy (Canillo) pumasok dito sa Goin’ Bulilit. Pareho kami kasi galing kaming SCQ ( Star Circle Quest) tapos parang pinagtry kami dito sa Goin’ Bulilit. Nung lahat ng batch naming SCQ, pinagtry kami sa Goin’ Bulilit. Tapos after nun, parang tinawagan na kami tapos pinapasok na kami sa Goin’ Bulilit,” he recalled.

Did he really plan on becoming an actor? “Kasi po dati parang artista na ko sa kabilang channel, sa 7. Yung Batang Bibbo. Artista na ko dun. Tapos ano hanggang sa nagkaroon ng SCQ tapos sumali po ako dun. Tapos pagkasali ko dun, eh sakto nakuha na ko sa Goin’ Bulilit kaya pinagpaalam ni mama na umalis muna ako dun sa 7 sa Batang Bibbo tapos pansamantalang pumunta muna ako sa Goin’ Bulilit tapos hanggang sa nagtuloy tuloy na. Nagkacontract na po ako sa ABS [CBN].”

Now 12 years old, Bugoy admitted that he is not yet ready to graduate from the show. Child actors usually graduate from the kiddie gag show when they reach 12 to 13 years old. “Hindi pa po siyempre five years na ko dito. Napamahal na po ako sa kanilang lahat so parang ‘di ko pa po kayang grumaduate.”

Happy to be part of the show’s 10th year anniversary, he said that he will feel sad when he finally leaves. “Kasi sa Goin’ Bulilit, parang pamilya mo na silang lahat. Parang pag grumaduate ka, parang nawatak ka sa pamilya mo ganon so parang sobrang lungkot talaga.” He admitted that he will definitely cry by then, especially since he is close to almost all the boys on the show.

Bugoy revealed that he still does not know what to do after he graduates. “Siguro baka magpahinga po muna, ganon,” adding that this might be his parents’ plan for him, “Baka magstudies muna ako.” He is now in Grade 6 at Shekinah Learning School in Cavite. While he said that he will finish high school first, he admitted that he will miss showbiz. But should he be unable to return to the industry, does he have a back-up plan? “Hindi ko po alam, magiging basketball player na lang po ako” Bugoy revealed that he likes to play basketball and is a on the varsity team in school.

As for his celebrity crush, Bugoy admitted he finds Kapamilya actress Nadine Lustre beautiful. He also said that for him, Nadine and Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo look alike. However, he refused to reveal who among the girls of Goin’ Bulilit is his crush, though his friend and co-actor, Izzy Canillo, who was with him in the interview, kept teasing him.

Meanwhile, Bugoy shared that he is doing a teleserye right now. “Meron po, yung ano, Will Never Say Goodbye,” where he is playing the role of a young Sam Concepcion. He’s also in Bridges with Izzy, where he will play a young Jericho Rosales.

When asked if he wants his own starring role, he said, “Hindi ko naman po minamadali pero kung may chance po, pwede po. Gusto ko rin po.”

Bugoy would like to do a drama-comedy and shared that his idol is Vhong Navarro. He admitted that he got affected when Vhong got involved in a mauling incident early last year. “Siyempre po nalungkot kasi nga po ganon. Nagulat po ako kasi ganun nga nangyari kay kuya Vhong. Sobrang nalungkot po ako kasi idol ko siya.” Nonetheless, it did not change his perception of him. “Hindi po, ganon pa rin kasi idol ko siya sa sayaw, umaarte din siya tapos kumakanta din.” He admitted that though they know each other personally, he has not told the It’s Showtime host that he idolizes him a lot.

Soon entering his teenage years, Bugoy agreed that he can be paired off with a love team eventually. If given the chance to choose, who does he want to be partnered with? “Sa ngayon po, wala pa po akong napipili eh,” was his reply. When asked who among the celebrities today he think seemed like a good on-screen partner, he answered, “Gusto ko po siyempre yung crush ko, si Nadine Lustre.”

He revealed that he used to have a crush on Kathryn Bernardo. “Dati po gusto ko si ate Kathryn, crush ko siya. Siyempre po dapat every year, nagbabago ka din.” But that doesn’t mean he wants to be a playboy in the future. “Hindi po, kasi siyempre kunyari naging crush mo na yung isa, parang every year parang nakakasawa na rin. Dapat nag-iiba ka naman,” he explained and added that it’s just a crush. He said that he has never had a girlfriend or courted anyone.

From his earnings, Bugoy has already built a three-storey house in Cavite and bought a van while his parents support his studies. Given that he already has a house and a car, what else does he want to have? “Magandang buhay…para mas gumanda pa, mas gusto ko pang gumanda,” he replied.
