JM De Guzman on fans who watch pirated movies: ‘Masakit pala pag nakikita mo yung ganun’

<div><img src="" alt="022415-jm_main.jpg" width="400" height="290" align="left" border="0"/>After his movie <i>That Thing Called Tadhana</i> broke the P120M mark at the box-office, JM De Guzman admitted he is happy with the outcome of his comeback project with Angelica Panganiban. “Overwhelming<i> yung nangyari kasi hindi ko in</i>-expect<i> na ganun siya kakagatin and sobrang thankful ako na</i> part<i> ako nung</i> movie,” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>JM said he considers himself very lucky to be given a second chance in his career after taking a hiatus from showbiz after doing the <i>teleserye Angelito</i> in 2012. “Sobra po, parang wow.<i> Parang hindi siya pinlano</i>,<i> parang binigay taga siguro ni</i> Lord,” he shared during the <i>Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival </i>presscon held last February 20, at the Skypark in SM Aura, Taguig city.</div><div> </div><div>The 26-year-old actor is also happy to be part of another promising indie movie which is included in the Sinag Maynila filmfest which is the brainchild of Solar Entertainment CEO and founder Wilson Tieng and internationally acclaimed film director Brillante Mendoza. JM stars in Imbisibol, one of the five films which will be showcased in different SM malls from March 18 to 24, 2015. The film, which was shot on location in Hokkaido, Japan in January of this year, was an eye-opening experience for JM. “Story siya ng mga Filipino OFWs, yung mga buhay nila, yung mga challenges nila sa Japan nung ‘90s. Ang role ko tungkol sa isang OFW na bagong salta sa Japan,” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>When asked what makes his character here different from those in his other movies, JM explained, <i>“Siguro mas</i> true-to-life and we deal with <i>kung ano ang pinagdadaanan ng mga Pilipino sa ibang bansa</i>.”</div><div> </div><div>In Imbisibol, JM got the chance to work with indie film director Lawrence Fajardo again. “Third time ko na siya makatrabaho. Ganun pa rin siya, sobrang passionate. Simula pagkagising hanggang matutulog na intense talaga siya. Tutok talaga siya, nakaka-inspire siya,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Even though he has already crossed over to doing mainstream projects, JM said  he will never stop doing independent film projects. “Kasi sa indie nandun yung mga brave na hindi mo makikita sa mainstream na mga stories and katulad ng That thing Called Tadhana, parang andun rin yung mga bagong directors and writers na magagaling so gusto ko rin sila makatrabaho at gusto ko pang matuto. Magandang ground ang indie para may matutunan ako,” he addEd.</div><div><br/></div><div></div><div><br/></div><div><img src="" alt="022415-jm_main.jpg" width="400" height="290" align="left" border="0"/>After his <i>That Thing Called Tadhana</i> co-star Angelica recently lashed out at fans who were watching pirated copies of their movie, JM said he totally understands how she feels. “<i>Tintitingnan ko na lang sa positibo na </i>wow <i>kalat yung </i>movie<i> pero medyo</i> affected <i>din ako kasi hindi muna tinapos yung</i> showing,<i> parang sayang. Masakit pala yun. Masakit pala pag nakikita mo yung ganun</i>. <i>Sana para mas suportahan natin yung Filipino movies sana huwag tayo bumili ng mga pirata,</i>” he explained.</div><div><br/></div><div>Currently busy with guest appearances and work commitments, JM said he even spent Valentine’s day doing work in Pampanga. After he was rumored to have gone through a rough patch after his breakup with Jessy Mendiola in 2012, JM happily admitted he is in a much better place now. “<i>Bukod sa sobrang </i>thankful <i>ako, ayoko na ring sayangin yung napaka</i>-rare <i>na</i> second chance or opportunity<i> na pumpasok sa buhay ko. Ipinasok ko sa isip ko na pagbutihin ko.</i>” </div><div><br/></div><div>The talented actor is also reportedly in talks for a new teleserye which is set to start taping in March.</div><div> </div><div>Watch JM De Guzman in his film Imbisibol by Lawrence Farjardo in the Sinag Maynila independent film festival. The other four films in the showcase include Paul Sta. Ana’s Balut Country, Zig Dulay’s Bambanti, Jim Libiran’s Ninja Party, and Remton Zuasola’s Swap. The films are scheduled for screening on rotation basis daily from March 18 to 24, 2015 in a designated SM Cinema in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, SM Manila, SM Fairview, SM Southmall, SM Mall of Asia and in SM Aura Premier, where the red-carpet opening ceremonies will be held.</div>
