Kapamilya actor Coco Martin is certainly a crowd favorite. Despite his successful career as an actor given his blockbuster films and acting awards, he still exudes an approachable charm that captures the hearts of the masses. But, what makes Coco truly down-to-earth?

Push.com.ph came up with four reasons on what makes Coco reachable more than any other celebrity.

1. Coco was a waiter, janitor, boy band member wannabe, and an extra

Coco had very humble beginnings, which has endeared him to the public. Before he became the Prince of Teleseryes, he was a waiter at Max’s Restaurant.

He also became an overseas Filipino worker in Canada where he was a “TNT” or “Tago Nang Tago.” However, Coco, who worked as janitor, failed to fix his working visa so he returned to the Philippines and continued doing independent films.

He also tried a comedic role and even joined the now defunct boy band, The Studs.

2. Coco maintains close family ties

Filipinos are known for being family-oriented. Most of us do not mind living with ate, kuya, lolo, lola, tito, tita even a plethora of cousins.

True to this Pinoy trait, Coco built a compound in Fairview, Quezon City, where his family members can live with him in proximity.

Coco grew up with his grandmother, so in his new home, he built her a bedroom with just about everything she needs.

3. Helicopter? Jeep na lang!

Some netizens may criticize the way Coco pronounces English words in the shows he has been in, particularly in his TV commercials but the actor acknowledges this flaw.
In fact, in his latest movie with Toni Gonzaga entitled, You're My Boss, his role involved learning to speak the language well. This also had him take Vice Ganda’s English speaking challenge on Gandang Gabi Vice

4. Coco is a devotee of the Black Nazarene

The actor’s devotion to the Black Nazarene started when he filmed Tirador. After touching the figure of the Black Nazarene, Coco said that blessings started to pour. So it wouldn’t be too unusual if you see the actor visiting the Quiapo Church once in a while.
