As his son’s career is currently thriving, he makes sure that he gets to guide him in every step of the way. A former child actor himself, Niño has observed that the entertainment industry is tougher nowadays than the way it was before so he sees to it that his child always stays on the right track with his guidance.

Medyo nalulula ako kasi eveything is happening so fast kasi he only started last September pero ano naman tina-try talaga namin maging grounded. I always remind him na, there are times talaga na hindi siya puwedeng sumpong-sumpong sa shooting, natural sa bata ‘yun but there are times na kailangan talagang pigilan ‘yung mga sumpong dahil nga very competitive ngayon ‘yung landscape ng showbiz eh,” he said in an interview with Push.com.ph.

His son Alonzo is constantly being compared to him which Niño doesn’t approve of since he wants his son to create his own mark in the industry. I think he should find his own path ‘di ba?” he said.

Niño added that since the landscape of the entertainment of the industry has changed enormously over the years, it would be hard for Alonzo to achieve what he has accomplished before as a child star. “Pero siyempre being a child star hindi mo talaga maiiwasang ma-compare sa akin lalo na magkamukha kami nong bata pa ako pero we have to face the fact na mahirap na gawin ‘yung ginawa ko non kasi ang laban nong bata pa ako pelikula talaga, paying public, ngayon kasi free TV na ang labanan eh and I did 35 solo movies na solo ko lang talaga eh I don’t think that’s possible anymore now, he said.

Despite being in the hectic world of showbiz, the actor believes that his son will be able to enjoy his childhood.
