053015-karylle_main.jpgWhile helping promote her mom Zsa Zsa Padilla's special anniversary concert Beginnings set for July 31, Karylle admitted music is her top priority this year more than going back to acting on TV or on stage. “Sa acting every holy week lang. There was an offer just last month pero because we're doing Showtime daily parang hindi ako napayagan so hopefully when the right project comes along I can do it for sure. I mean I'd love to do that again. Siyempre ang focus ko ngayon is to finish my album and to get more concerts. Nagulat nga ako sa schedule ko this week because we had two presscons for concerts and then we have a concert on Saturday. So I love this path and ang dream ko talaga especially for this year is to tour with SpongeCola and my band and to hopefully do music festivals. Like the other day we performed in Pampanga and si Yael (Yuzon) kasi usually hinahatid ko yan sa van and ako nasa van ako with my band so ang sarap din ng feeling na this is the musician's life. Sa theater huwag muna kasi ang ginawa mo yun yun lang dapat eh,” she said during the Beginnings presscon held last May 27 at Passion restaurant in Resorts World Manila.

When it comes to her daily noontime show It's Showtime, Karylle said that she is flattered and happy at the growing popularity of her “Vicerylle” tandem with Vice Ganda. The 34-year-old actress said she can't pinpoint exactly what made their tandem click so much with the viewers. “I don't know. It's something I can't explain. I'm happy to meet mga bagets. Actually minsan tinatawag nila akong 'nanay' pero they're older than me or trip lang nila siguro. I've met a couple of mga bagets when I did a Bench tour in the stores. No singing kasi yun so I was able to talk to people more. Everyone was showing me their cards, last March I got so many photos of them graduating. Parang nakakatuwa. I think they kind of like the idea that they have an extra mom and an extra dad who's makulit. I'm kind of strict kasi siyempre growing up with a strict dad I'm a bit strict and parang minsan sinasabi ko 'I'll monitor your grades.' Which I really do because I do look at it. Minsan show it to my mom and sasabihin niya, 'Ay medyo mababa yan.' So parang cute, I don't know. I can't explain it myself (laughs),” she shared.

Karylle's friendship with Vice has already helped change her life in unexpected ways according to the singer-actress. “Lahat kami sa Showtime we're actually very close and I find him very funny talaga. I rememeber when I was new in Showtime I never laughed so hard in my life. Alam mo yung para akong dalagang Pilipina na yung tawa mo parang karampot lang? Parang bitin na your holding back. So nung na-meet ko siya, tawang tawa ako. I really never laughed so hard in my life and parang for me that's the one thing I'm most grateful for na he taught me to let go and enjoy life to the fullest. Kasi sometimes when you change a little thing like that it changes your perspective on other things na you don't have to be mahinhin to be proper all the time, mga ganyan,” she explained.

With a growing clamor online for them to do a project together outside It’s Showtime, Karylle said the fans will have to understand their busy schedules. She said she and Vice always try and make an effort to get closer to their fans even if just through online games. “Palagi naman kaming magkasama ni Vice sa TV everyday. Kung dumating yan, darating yan. So thank you na lang sa lahat ng support. We're playing a game now eh, we're playing brain games with the mga Vicerylle. I asked them to play it with me (laughs). So good luck sa score niyo, ako mababa pa yung brain score ko,” she said.

Watch Zsa Zsa Padilla's special anniversary concert Beginnings on July 31, 2015, 8 pm at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. Special guests include Karylle and Martin Nievera. Tickets now available at all Ticketworld outlets and the box office of Resorts World Manila.
