, January 4, actress-host Toni Gonzaga and husband, director Paul Soriano exclusively talked to the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino about their married life. A couple for 8 years, Toni and Paul tied the knot last June.

Sharing details of their vacation in Amanpulo two days after their wedding, Toni said that the trip was a gift from their ninang Kris, recalling that she mentioned about wanting to go there when they were still hosts of the defunct showbiz news show, The Buzz. The couple admired how the place was very private and commended the good food.

The two also talked about decorating their new home. Toni who spearheaded the designing, said, “Kasi ‘di ba if you get an interior designer, sasabihin mo ‘yung gusto mo, everything that you want, ‘yung style and all that, tapos siya ‘yung magco-come up with the design. Technically, parang it’s still her vision. So ako… I want to see kung paano magmamaterialize what I have visualized in my head.” She then shared looking at design-oriented websites Pinterest and Houzz, adding that she went through stores and handpicked their furniture.

Talking about the adjustments they had to work on as husband and wife, Toni commended Paul for being so respectful that he lets her rest during times she had to sleep through lunch as she was tired from work, “Super bait niya, ate Kris.” However, Paul shared that during their first month, Toni who would prepare for work, had to learn how to move around quietly while he is sleeping in their bedroom. Nonetheless, Toni said that she has changed and learned how to be considerate.

Likewise, Toni said that she is now trying to sleep early like Paul who sleeps at around 9 to 10 PM. She said that she would stay up until 1AM so she would just call her sister, Alex for a chitchat.

Talking about finances, Toni said that they do not divide their expenses while Paul said that they have joint bank accounts. They also said that they have savings (which they keep for their dream house, future and kids) that they vowed not to touch unless there is an emergency.

Sharing that it was her who set a budget that they try to live with, Toni said that she got this trait from her Mommy Pinty who is an accountant. “Narealize ko, when I was just starting out, tapos noong hihiwalay na ako sa mommy ko, pinresent ng mommy ‘yung investments, where my money went, ganyan. Sabi ko, mommy, paano mo nagawa lahat ng ‘to? Paano mo napalago o napalaki? Sabi niya, tuturuan kita, Tin. Kasi accountant ang mommy so alam niya kung pano mag-invest, kung saan ilalagay ‘yung pera para maging maayos so ‘yun ‘yung kinuha ko sa kanya. Sabi ko, kailangan natin makuha ‘yung trait ng mommy.”

Nonetheless, she said that they have a moving fund for their daily expenses.

Talking about the things that they argued about, Toni said that their major issues would usually be about time.

Paul recalled a time, “I would get home late na, mga 10 and she’s not home yet. So me, now being a husband, I don’t want her on the road (at) 2 AM.” He said that he would text her but Toni would get irritated as she wants to focus on her work. Moreover, he said that he has no problem with his wife working but he is just thinking about her safety.

Meanwhile, Toni recalled Paul telling her that he does not want to be a free-time husband so she said, “Sabi ko, okay so this 2016, talagang the goal is to be the best wife for Paul.”

star also said that they learned to sit down and open up about their issues in order to resolve them.

When asked if Paul gets jealous, the director admitted that he would ask Toni if she had a kissing scene during the day so he would kiss her, “So I’m the last one she kisses.” He also described Toni’s leading men, Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz as “great guys.” Paul is the producer of movie, Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis which stars the two actors.

Speaking of Toni’s showbiz career, Paul admitted that they had a sit-down talk with Mommy Pinty and told her that they still want her to manage Toni. According to him, Mommy Pinty said, “About work, may say ako. But anything else, wala na akong say. Parang ganon.” Toni admired her mother, saying that when she gave her to Paul during their church wedding, she was really letting her go to live her life.
