JC De Vera on working with Nora Aunor: ‘Hindi kami may superstar, nagkaroon kami ng nanay sa set’

<div class="Default"><font face="Tahoma, sans-serif"><img align="left" alt="121716-JCDeVera_PUSH.jpg" border="0" height="290" src="" width="400"/>As part of the cast of this year’s Metro Manila Film Fest drama <i>Kabisera</i>, JC De Vera said it was an honor to work with veteran actress Nora Aunor along with his co-stars Jason Abalos, Kiko Matos, and Ronwaldo Martin. &quot;Lahat ng aktor pinapangarap na makatrabaho si Ate Guy kahit isang beses and isa ako dun sa mga actors na gusto talaga makasama si Ate Guy. And yung totoo nun, hindi ko talaga binasa yung script nung in-offer sa akin pero nung sinabi kasama si Ate Guy tinanggap ko kagad. As in yes kagad. Wala ng isip isip yun. Ganun kalakas yung appeal sa akin ni Ate Guy. Nag-iwan siya ng napakagandang experience sa amin lalo na sa generation namin nila Jason (Abalos) na siya talaga yung tinitingala namin na maging inspiration. Kasi ang ganda nung pinakita niya rin sa amin during work. She’s very polite, very helpful, very generous sa pagbigay sa talent niya. Yun yung mga hindi mo makakalimutan talaga,” he shared.</font></div><div class="Default"><font face="Tahoma, sans-serif">JC said he did not feel that Nora had any superstar complex at all on the </font><i style="font-family:Tahoma, sans-serif">Kabisera</i><font face="Tahoma, sans-serif"> set. &quot;We are all here to do this project and hindi lang naman si Miss Nora Aunor ang gagawa nito kundi lahat kami so walang superstar complex. May fulfillment talaga and very, very grateful kami kasi every time na makaka-eksena kami, andun yung honor pa rin, nandun yung fulfillment na nakatapos ka ng isang eksena with Nora Aunor and pag umuuwi ka sa bahay very happy ka na natapos mo siya ng maganda,” he explained.</font></div><div class="Default"><font face="Tahoma, sans-serif">Although the movie did not make the cut in last year’s MMFF, JC said his experience with Nora definietely left a mark on his career. &quot;Si Ate Guy meron siyang switch button kasi bago mag-take magtatawanan lang kami nun ng magtatawanan. Ganun niya ginagawang very light yung environment ng buong shooting namin. Lahat kami masaya bago mag-take, lahat kami very comfortable with her. Kaya ko nasabing may switch button kasi once narinig na namin yung ‘5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Action!’ nag-iibang tao na siya bigla. Napupunta na siya sa character niya na ma-e-enjoy mo. Yun yung naiwan niya sa amin na mga bagong actors na basta trabaho, yun talaga yung pinunta niyo dun, yung trabaho. Pero meron din tayong time to laugh, meron din tayong time to bond. Pero pag narinig mo na yung action kailangan may switch button tayong lahat. Kailangan lahat tayo aarte ng maganda. At saka nagkaroon kami ng nanay. Hindi kami may superstar, nagkaroon kami ng nanay sa set,” he admitted.</font></div><div class="Default"><font face="Tahoma, sans-serif">After being part of his new movie project entered in the MMFF (previous entries including two Mano Po and two Shake, Rattle, &amp; Roll films and Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy), JC admitted he agrees with the current MMFF board’s decision to feature none of the usual blockbuster franchises. &quot;Eh kasi different yung format. Iba yung selection ng movies and hindi ito yung nakakasanayan natin na MMFF na every year na pinapanuod. Mas fresh siya,” he added.</font></div>
