120816-KikoMatos_PUSH.jpgIn what seemed to have started out as a bar fight between Kiko Matos and Baron Geisler which was later resolved in a live MMA fight last June has now been revealed to be a carefully planned social experiment according to one of its stars. Kiko, who is part of the cast of the MMFF film entry Kabisera, bared it all during their grand presscon last December 6. 'Trabaho naman namin yun as actors to make it look like we had a feud. What I tell everybody, sa lahat ng nangyari sa amin ni Baron, only the fight was real. Supposedly, Baron and I were talking na we could choreograph the fight but we decided not to choreograph para isabuhay yung role namin sa storyang yun at binigay namin lahat. Kung yung ibang tao inisip nila na hindi kami nagkabasgan ng mukha, well first of all hindi kami fighters. We’re not really trained fighters pero lumaban kami hanggang sa nawalan kami ng hininga, hanggang sa na-drop kaming pareho,” he said.

According to Kiko, nothing could be further from the truth when it came to how he treated his “feud” with Baron and considers it a different kind of passion project. 'Wala pong talent fee yung documentary na yun eh. It was a exciting experiment. Isa siya sa mga projects na you do it out of passion. You want to do something that involves reality eh. So as actors we also want to step out of our comfort zone, to do something that we’ve never done before. And alam namin yung consequence pero as adults we try to do something that has never been done before.

The Kabisera actor who plays Nora Aunor’s favorite nephew in the upcoming family drama said only time will tell if their social experiment was a real success. This will be gauged by how the public will receive their documentary called Beastmode which will also be shown this month. 'Well as far as we reached, it became successful in keeping the secret and revealing it by December. Hindi naman siya makaka-apekto sa movie kasi what we wanted also was people to receive speculations kung totoo ba na social experiment yun. Kaya kami naglabas ng issue sa Rogue magazine, we wanted to explain it to them. Kaya lang hindi lang na-pick up yung sa magazine,” he admitted.
