Kim Chiu and Xian Lim talk about their more mature roles and first love scene

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim will soon be back on primetime withthe upcoming teleserye The Story of Us thatpremieres on February 29. Promising amore mature KimXi, the soap will feature a love scene which the two talkedabout during a press conference last Monday night, February 15.

Talking about their transition to more mature roles, Kimadmitted taking five steps forward with this project because she got used todoing romance-comedy films. “Noong una,nahirapan talaga akong tanggalin ‘yung kwela-kwela, bubbly-bubbly. ‘Pagnagli-lines dapat sobrang seryoso kasi parang natagalan din ako bumalik, parangone year na wala sa primetime, walang drama series so parang puro rom-com ‘yungginagawa ko so parang nasanay na siguro ‘yung sarili ko na magpatawa,” shesaid.

For his part, Xian acknowledged their new show’s productionteam for always guiding them in each scene. He added that this project isdifferent from the previous ones they’ve done. “Iba po ‘yung atake dito ni Direk Richard (Somes). Talaga pong real life issues ang tinatargetpo namin. Marami pong issues sa totoong buhay na talagang irerecreate naminpara sa isang napakagandang eksena,” he said.

Revealing that they shared a lot of “firsts” on thisproject, Kim said, “Una, first namin nateleserye na kaming dalawa talaga ‘yung bida and then, first time namakatrabaho si Direk Richard (who also directed the 2015 soap Bridges of Love) and then first time namin mag ‘yun nga (love scene).”

Speaking of their love scene, Kim and Xian admitted feelingawkward about it. Although they felt shy, Kim said that they placed their trustin their director. Direk Richard, whowas also present at the event, talked about shooting the love scene. “Mabilis lang naman ‘yung mounting but maramilang siyang coverage. One of the hardest part palagi magshoot is to shoot alove scene kasi you want to be more sensible with your actors palagi and at the same time, it’s aprocess of making them feel comfortable as you go along most especially ifthere’s a lot of cameras involved, people nasa loob din so I think hindi mahirap ‘yung pag shoot nila, it’s just that ‘yungcoverage lang.” According to him, the love scene was taken from 4 to 6 inthe morning.

Moreover, Kim, who admitted having limitations while doingthe scene, shared what made her agree to do this. “Kaya rin naman ako napapayag na gawin ito, hindi lang naman basta ‘uygusto ko maging mature, gusto ko magka-love scene.’ Hindi lang naman siya ganonlang. Kasali kasi siya sa kwento, kasali siya sa journey ng dalawang tao andmay dahilan kung bakit binigay niya ‘yung part na ‘yun sa gabing iyon na dapatnilang abangan.”
