Days after thanking netizens for appreciating her viral Cannes 2016 red carpet photos, Maria Isabel Lopez decided to speak up further about the incident.

In a post on Glitter.ph titled “Cannes is lovelier the second time around,” Lopez apologized to Ma ‘Rosa director Brillante Mendoza and Cannes 2016 Best Actress winner and the film’s lead star Jaclyn Jose over the incident.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to my director Brillante Mendoza and the lead actress Jaclyn Jose that there was no intention on my part to be a scene stealer and take the spotlight away from them,” she said.

“I was just being me,” she added.

Lopez dominated the top trending list over the weekend after photos of her “slaying” it on the red carpet went viral. A hashtag “Be Like Maria” even became viral as well.

According to Maria, she had specific instructions to designer Albert Andrada to make it “simple” when she asked him to make her Cannes gown.

“When I fitted the gown, I was worried I thought it was too much!” she said.

“The train was three times longer than Miss Universe (2015) Pia Wurzbach’s winning blue gown. The plunging neckline was three (3) times lower than hers,” Lopez explained.

Apparently, Lopez claims, that nobody informed her of the color assignment of black and nude prior to leaving the country. With no other gown in tow, Lopez said she ended up wearing Andrada’s emerald green gown.

About her position in the photos, Lopez explained that she even deliberately placed herself on the extreme right of the photo ops because she is not the lead star of the film.

“My gown was being stepped upon and if you can only see how dirty it is on the tail,” she said about the “space” that she supposedly made from her co-stars, which netizens noticed on the photos.

“I was not trying to make a scene. I was simply protecting myself from falling down and from making the gown dirty,” she added.

She even emphasized that she conducted herself the same way that she did when she was at the same red carpet in 2009 for the film Kinatay.
