071416-tito_main.jpgSenator Tito Sotto III, who is currently under fire for his remarks deemed “insensitive to women” which he made during the July 9 episode of the noontime show Eat Bulaga, has explained his side through a text message sent to news site Rappler.com.

Advising people to watch the episode first, Senator Tito said, 'Watch (the) episode. Some netizens who commented did not even watch it. It was a simple reaction saying that a married lady should not be out at night having shots with men other than her husband. Talagang mapapagbintangan ka. That's (the) context. What's wrong with that?'

Nonetheless, he is open to the idea that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), who invited Eat Bulaga executives for a conference on July 21 after netizens called out his alleged “victim-blaming” and “sexist” comments, will check in on the matter.

'Anyway, it's a welcome development if MTRCB looks into (the) matter. They will see that I was merely moralizing for the protection of (the) institution of marriage,” he told Rappler.
