Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters hopes that beauty pageant fanatics can now move on from her failed bid at the Miss Universe crown.

To recall, Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017.

After the coronation ceremony, some netizen were quick to blame Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who happened to be one of the pageant’s judges, over her loss.

“Honestly, you know, everything is [in the] past, no need to point fingers or anything,” she said in an interview with PEP.

Rachel underscores that "Everything happens for a reason.”

"I think that this is Demi’s destiny and I will watch all her journey. Everything that she does, I’ll be following her, and I’m proud of her and happy for her. So, I think we should move on," added Rachel.

It appears that Rachel herself has no gripes against Pia.

"Just thank you, I guess, for being an inspiration to me and to all other beauty queens, not only in the Philippines but all over the universe," she said when asked for a message for Pia.

In the end, Rachel remains grateful for the support that she received despite her Top 10 finish.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t say enough, seeing the support and love, everything that I got from you guys during the pageant is so amazing,” she said.
