Inamin ni Mariel de Leon nang makausap siya ng PUSH pagkatapos ng special screening ng MMFF movie na Ang Panday na pinagbibidahan ni Coco Martin na loveless siya ngayon. Nag-break na raw sila ng non-showbiz boyfriend niya pagkatapos ng laban niya sa 2017 Miss International sa Japan nitong November.

“Kasi we thought about it naman na… we noticed na our schedules are very different especially with me, like I’m starting my career in showbiz, plus yung Miss International, tapos siya, he’s busy rin sa business niya so parang hindi na…” pag-amin ng dalaga sa PUSH.

Ayon pa sa kanya, pareho nilang desisyon ng dating boyfriend ang maghiwalay muna.

"Ah, mutual decision namin. We still talk pero there’s an understanding na since we’re both young we want to build up ourselves muna and hopefully save money so that in the future pwede nang mag-settle,” paliwanag ng beauty queen.

Tumagal din daw ng halos isang taon ang kanilang relasyon.

“We’re just now… not totally ano naman, zero. More of parang work on ourself muna tapos pag may kaya na, pag independent na…”

Nagbigay din ng reaksyon si Mariel sa sinasabi ng iba na kaya hindi siya masyadong naka-focus sa Miss International pageant ay dahil ginagawa niya Ang Panday.

Aniya, “Well, I know how to manage my schedule naman and it’s not like everyday kailangan kong mag-training. Kasi yung Panday, it’s only twice a week, so I have five more days for my Miss International preparations.

"I think I handled that well including the pressure from both the movie industry and the pageant industry.”

Eh, ano ba ang naituro sa kanya ng pagsali sa international pageant at sa pagsabak sa pelikula?

“Definitely, more confident and more wise and now I’m not afraid to be myself.

“And after Ang Panday naman, I learned how to be more flexible in terms of my environment and the people around me,” sagot ng dalaga.

Dagdag pa ni Mariel, kahit na nasa showbiz na siya ngayon, hindi pa rin daw niya babaguhin ang pagiging opinionated niya.

“No, kasi I’ve always been like that eversince before. It’s just that only my friends and family knew that. Kasi dati, hindi naman ako kilala, ngayong medyo nakikilala na ako parang they think na I changed, pero I never change. I was always myself,” she said.
