In Gretchen Fullido’s report on

TV Patrol,

a very passionate Gerald Anderson shared his advocacy in reaching out to Cottolengo Filipino, an orphanage for disabled children in Montalban, Rizal.

“Nakilala ko sila 2012 kasi nagresearch ako for Budoy. Dito ako nag-immerse. Nag birthday ako dito ilang beses na, nakapunta kami sa mga ibang outing like Enchanted (Kingdom). Malapit sa puso ko eh. I can’t explain it.”

Gerald’s recent visit was more special as he surprised the children there with ‘Angel Dogs.’ Compared to the search and rescue dogs of his K-9 foundation, these dogs are specially trained to help those who are sick, who are autistic, those with disabilities, and special needs. He said, “As you’ve seen talagang naging calm sila, masaya sila, pagkasama mga aso. So that’s our goal.”

“I feel recharged and I feel happy. This is why I’m so motivated sa career ko kasi I have to have that power that leverage para marami kaming ganitong moments,” Gerald confessed.

His foundation will be celebrating its one-year anniversary on his 28th birthday on March 7. He’ll be holding a fundraising event on April 5 which is supported by his friends in the industry such as Piolo Pascual. The event’s goal is to educate others on the importance of specially trained dogs for those with special needs as well as the help they provide during calamities and disasters.
