Dubbed as Asia’s Romantic Balladeer, Christian Bautista will officially launch his new album Kapit on September 29 at the Music Museum where he will have a free concert for the attendees.

During the press conference for his album launch on Wednesday, September 20, Christian said that his new album contains many original songs.

Of the 12 tracks–10 songs, one acoustic version and one full version, Christian has written four of them namely the carrier single “Kapit”, “Huling Harana”, “Ikaw Lamang”, and “Musika”.

Talking about his songwriting process, Christian, who admitted he hasn’t learned how to play the piano and the guitar, shared how he comes up with the melody, “I hum it… I get my phone, record… Tapos ipapadala ko sa kapatid ko na marunong mag-gitara. Tapos gigitarahin niya, babalik sa’kin tapos kakantahin ko na naman.

“Sa lyrics naman, notes. Random lines. I put it also on my phone… If I need a song, naghahatak lang ako ng mga ibang lines, kinokonek ko lang (so) right there, biglang bumuhos.”

He also admitted that his experiences also inspired his songs. As such, he mentioned the song “Kapit”.

“I guess every artist or singer or band goes through this phase na… maybe this is the end, maybe I should stop,” he explained. However, when he thinks of the fans, the music, his family, friends, management and label, they inspire him to keep going.

Meanwhile, Christian was also asked about his former girlfriend, thespian and singer Rachelle Ann Go who recently got engaged.

“Happy for her. It’s been a while so it’s about time also. Kami lahat. Sina Erik (Santos), Mark (Bautista), we all like texted her and messaged her. It’s about time,” he said.

When asked if he would be willing to sing at her wedding, Christian answered, “Ang tamang sagot diyan is kapag ininvite niya ako to sing, I will.”

Is there a song that he could sing for them?

“Ang song ko na lang para sa kanilang dalawa (Rachelle and fiancé Martin Spies), pwede siguro nilang gawin theme song is (Basil Valdez’s ‘You’), ‘yan kasi minsan nagtatravel-travel sila so bagay sa kanila ‘yun,” he said.

Christian and Rachelle, who reportedly had a two-year relationship, broke up in 2007 but remained friends.
