Kuh Ledesma on finding love: ‘My romance is with a perfect man’

When her marriage ended after more than a decade, Kuh Ledesma said she has learned a lot about loving. The talented singer admitted she enjoys imparting her lessons to others. “First of all, I always say to young people, if you’re interested in having a family, marry your best friend. Dapat magkaibigan muna kayo ng husto. Hindi yung parang nagkakilala lang kayo and then you get into something very intimate, hindi niyo pa kilala ang isa’t isa. A relationship between two people can only become lasting when we know how to love ourselves first. We cannot love someone if we are not complete in God,” she shared during the Love Matters concert presscon held in Quezon City.

Kuh admitted that at this point in her life she has remained open-minded about the possibility of committing to love again. “My romance is with a perfect man. Hindi naman man, with God (laughs). The one and only and that’s my Lord Jesus Christ. I’m very content with my life. Halata naman sa mukha ko di ba? I am his bride. I am not looking but if God tells me clearly that the person who knocks on my door is the second person, why not? If I hear from God na yung dadalhin niya sa buhay ko talagang yun yun. Wala (prospect). Hindi ako nag-fi-flirt. Huwag na. Masaya ako talaga. Masayang masaya,” she said.

Even at the age of 62, Kuh has been able to maintain her youthful appearance and figure with a simple secret. “It’s the Lord at saka I have a very good skin doctor. And I like sleeping early. Konting work out lang ako eh. I try to eat vegetables and fruits now. More fish rather than meat,” she said.

Kicking off with her pre-Valentine’s concert Love Matters with Kris Lawrence on February 13 at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent, Kuh said she is also busy preparing for another major event next month. “March is my birthday benefit show. Kasama ko diyan sila Piolo Pascual, Alden Richards will be there. Mahal na mahal ko si Alden for saying yes, even for Piolo. Ang daming guests. Si Nanette Inventor and Christian Bautista who’s been a good friend of mine. They always support me in this benefit show kasi lahat ng artists are not going to get a single cent but I’m going to give them, as a gift, my painting. This is for the Holy Bible Giver Foundation which is my ministry and foundation,” she added.
