Josh Santana is among the passers of this year’s Physician’s Licensure Examination, which was released recently. "Medyo mahirap pa i-explain at this point kung anong nararamdaman, sobrang saya, sobrang unbelievable. Noong inisip ko palang na gusto ko maging doctor para siyang jump from one world to another, siyempre ang dami kong iniwan, ang dami kong trabahong tinalikuran,” he said in an interview with CNN Philippines.

Before studying in med school, Josh was in a completely different industry. He used to be one of the most sought-after singers in showbiz. One of his most notable works was being able to sing the soundtrack of the popular Taiwanese series back in 2003, Meteor Garden. He was the voice behind 'Biyahe’ or the tagalized version of 'Can't Help Falling in Love.' He also starred in the TV show Bituin and sang other theme songs of popular ABS-CBN shows.

"I think nabigyan ako ng tamang mga proyekto, masasabi kong I had the biggest break, to be able to sing theme songs in different TV series especially ‘yung sa Meteor Garden, ang laking blessing nun for me,” Josh said in the interview.

The singer's decision to leave showbiz was prompted by a moment he shared with his father in 2011 in a hospital when he was asked to pursue his childhood dream - a career in medicine.

“Kasi darating sa point ng buhay mo parang tinatanong mo sarili mo you want to do something different something more,” he shared during the interview.

Meanwhile, the day he learned the result of the examination, Josh took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the Lord for helping him achieve his dreams.

“I was overwhelmed by so much happiness last night and I didn't know what to say or what to post. There are a lot of people that I need to thank that this page may not be enough. Again, none of this would be possible without God's approval. During the exam, I felt Him beside me reminding me to trust in myself because He has made me His warrior and that I had everything I needed to answer the questions. It was the strongest connection I felt with Him ever. Thank you Lord,” he wrote.

He also thanked his family for being behind him in this journey.

“I thank my whole family for the support and I also apologize for my absence in most family occasions. I thank my friends who made this journey so much easier to take. Tama na... haba na! Basta thank you thank you thank you,” he posted.

You've let me witness so many miracles in my life from my achievements as a kid, to my showbiz stints, to 2 Gold Record awards as a recording artist, and now this. When I prayed to you I said, Your will be done. I didn't pray to pass. I trusted that If ever I failed, I know I'll be alright, because even failing will not change my love for you. But you wanted me to pass. Thank you. This is more than anyone could ask for. You've always given me my heart's desire and for that I shall always aim to give back by helping people who'd need me, as you've helped me when I needed you. I thank my whole family for the support and I also apologize for my absence in most family occasions. I thank my friends who made this journey so much easier to take. Tama na... haba na! Basta thank you thank you thank you! #drmike? #drjosh?
