Andrea Brillantes on her first lead role in a movie ‘A Spark in Samar’: ‘Umaapaw yung excitement ko’

<div> </div><p>After being announced as one of the three lead stars in the upcoming movie <em>A Spark in Samar</em>, Andrea Brillantes said she is excited about shooting on location in the province in the Eastern Visayas. “I<em> think this is a good opportunity for me especially since kakaiba yung role sa iba kong ginagawa. So very excited ako dahil iba din yung mapapakita ko kasi iba din yung role</em>,” she said.</p><div> </div><p>The 15-year-old actress admitted she is nervous about her role as a singer in the tourism film directed by Bona Fajardo. “<em>To be honest medyo kinakabahan ako for my role kasi meron akong parang music dito, nag-gi-gitara and yung pagkanta and hindi talaga ako singer. I will try my best talaga na makapagkanta ng maayos. Pressure lang sa akin yung pagkanta ko (laughs) at saka pag-gitara ko pero yun lang naman kasi mas umaapaw yung excitement ko sa film na ito and yun lang naman para sa akin,</em>” she explained.</p><div> </div><p>Andrea said it is a big help that one of her co-stars Kristel Fulgar is a singer and is already like a big sister to her. “<em>So kinakabahan ako pero excited na excited. Super bago para sa akin. At saka andito naman si ate Kristel. Napakaganda ng boses niya so tutulungan niya ako. Siya yung magiging parang mentor ko dun. Excited pero kinakabahan ako. Dun ako pinakakinakabahan</em>,” she said.</p><div> </div><p>Now that the new school year has started, Andrea said she still values her education even if she also works full-time. “<em>Ngayon homeschooled naman ako, pero kahit homeschool medyo mahirap din mag-catch up lalo na pag may work. Pero tina-try ko pa rin yung best ko na ma-balance ang work at pag-aaral kasi siyempre importante din ang school. Grade 10. Lapit na, konti na lang. Favorite subject ko nung bata ako Math. Magaling ako sa Math. May medals ako sa math. Tapos ngayon nagbago na yung math eh ang hirap na niya so favorite ko ngayon Filipino and History, and Science</em>,” she added.</p>
