Reality television show Pinoy Big Brother has been subjected to speculations that it follows a scripted format after the entrance of more known artists has become a regular occurrence over its past seasons.

Direk Lauren, who happens to be the TV Production Head of ABS-CBN, took the chance to address the longtime controversy while waiting to board his plane back to Manila from Naga where Star Hunt recently held their auditions.

"While nag-aantay kami an hour before dumating ang eroplano, we were talking about - there are comments na may napili na. Sinasabi ko sa kanya parang it was an unfair statement," he said while talking to one of his staff under Pinoy Big Brother.

"Kung alam niyo lang kung gaano kahirap mag-audition. 'Yung oras na ginugugol namin. Nagrereklamo na asawa ko, nagrereklamo na boss ko. Hirap talaga ng analogy natin na para kang naghahanap ng karayom sa haystack. Kasi sinasabi na ang daming napipili, may mga bali-balita na may mga managers na 'yung iba," he added.

Direk Lauren also cited there are some choices whom he thought had the potential of becoming the next big star such as Joshua Garcia who at that time auditioned in Marikina even though he is from Batangas.

"Pero kanina ang interesting na pinag-uusapan natin is sino ba 'yung obvious and hindi obvious na choices. Like we were talking about Joshua. Marikina 'yun eh. Nung umalis ako nun, naiwan kayo," he said.

Meanwhile, Jameson who was already doing commercials at that time when he tried out auditioning for PBB, was randomly spotted in Baguio during the Panagbenga Festival when he sent out some of his staff to scout for potential housemates.

"Well, kay Jameson, ang kwento naman nun, like 'pag nagpupunta kami sa isang lugar like Baguio, may pinapapunta na ako 'O, mag-scout kayo punta kayo sa mall' tapos 'pag may nahanap na sila, dadalhin na nila sa audition venue. That's how Jameson was spotted at Baguio," he stated.

Direk Lauren reiterated that some auditionees, like Maine Mendoza who was already doing Dubsmash videos when she was called to audition for PBB, didn't make it for a reason.

While PBB may seem like a scripted form of a television show for its almost seamlessly tailored storyline, Direk Lauren reiterated that none of this is true and that the only thing they get from doing it is pure joy out of helping someone achieve their dreams.

"It's really the joy of finding that someone na matutulungan namin para makamtan niya ang kanyang panagrap, serbisyo po namin sa 'yun sa tao, wala naman po kaming komisyon kung sino man ang sumisikat. And our decisions are right and wrong," he said.

Direk Dyogi also stressed out that the success of a housemate doesn't necessarily depend on one housemate alone, saying some of them like Kim and Gerald, and Maymay and Edward became successful because of the relationship they formed inside the house.
