REVIEW: ‘We Will Not Die Tonight’ marries rock and roll with savage style swordfighting

<div> </div>A part of this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino lineup, <a href="http://entertainment.abs-cbn.com/tv/shows/tonightwithboyabunda/main">We Will Not Die Tonight</a> promised to be the most action-packed film included. Lead star Erich Gonzales (who is also one of the film’s producers) even started the opening scene running like her life depended on it, but in truth (well in movie reality) only for the cameras shooting a scene as a body double for Dani Barretto.Erich plays Kray, a gutsy stuntwoman struggling to find work in an oppressive system until some old friends (Thou Reyes, Max Eigenmann, Alex Medina) show up out of the blue and convince her to join them in somewhat shady dealings.When the group discovers that their latest job is not what they signed up for, things go haywire as the syndicate hunts them down one by one in savage and guiltless fashion. No one is spared from violence here as even innocent bystanders and the police seem to be no match against the drug-crazed killers (led by Paolo Paraiso, Jeffrey Tam, and Sarah Jane Abad) whose preferred weapon of choice are massive looking “itaks” or bolos which they seem to have no problem carrying around all night.We Will Not Die Tonight is a rollercoaster ride of a movie, with some dips and a whole lot of highs. But expect long drawn out scenes of gore and violence which may not be the best experience for those weak in heart and stomach.

‘We Will Not Die Tonight’ delivers guts, gore, and a whole lot of excitement in under two hours.
