LOOK: Liza Soberano in new film reminds netizens of Atom Araullo’s mother

Early this week, Liza Soberano was revealed to portray the character of Christine, an Iska from University of the Philippines (UP), for her upcoming film, the Antoinette Jadaone-directed ‘Alone/Together’, opposite onscreen partner Enrique Gil.

Along with the announcement came a series of behind the scene photos from the movie, where one picture of the young actress stood out for apparently bearing a resemblance to journalist Atom Araullo’s mother during her younger days in the same university.

The woman is Carol P. Araullo, a doctor and columnist whose efforts as a then-young activist has created history in the institute. After playing the role of a student leader and, once, becoming a political prisoner, Atom’s mother was granted the honor of the Distinguished Alumni Award in Equality and Social Cohesion by the UP Alumni Association back in 2012.
