As the personal choice of general Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to play him in his movie, Robin Padilla explained it all started from a casual conversation during a chance encounter last year. “Magkaibigan kasi kami. Nagkita kami sa basketball ni Manny (Pacquiao). July pa ‘to. Sabi ko, ‘General, gawin natin yung buhay mo.’ Kasi naman ang purpose ko dun kasi nga maganda ang buhay niya. Ginawa ko nga yung kay Senator Lacson eh,” he recalled.

Robin said that as early as now, he can feel the pressure from people with high expectations of his portrayal of the former national police chief. “Kasi maraming nag-e-expect na kailangan perfect yung physical ano ni Bato. Sabi ko nung pinag-uusapan namin ito, kung ganun ang plano kumuha kayo ng impersonator. Yung talagang 100% gagayahin si General Bato. Kasi ako artista ako, kailangan 50/50 tayo. Bibigyan ko ng buhay yung character niya, isama natin yung konti niyang siya pero hindi puwede yung 100% kasi hindi ganun yun,” he explained.

Initially, Robin said he thought he would not be able to do the role and actually suggested bringing in other celebrities. “Ang dami kong binigay na pangalan ng artista diyan na puwedeng gumanap. Unang una na si Coco Martin ang binigay ko diyan. Pero hind ata sila nagkaintindihan sa schedule. Kasi una Star Cinema ang nag-aayos nito. Ang nagpaikot lahat nito Star Cinema. Nabanggit pa si Daniel (Padilla) kasi nga yung young Bato. Sinuggest ko po (si Aljur Abrenica) hindi lang sila nagkasundo. Kahit si Kylie (Padilla) sinuggest ko rin. Hindi lang nagkasundo sa schedule, yung ganun,” he said
