With giant streaming service Netflix kicking off its lineup of Filipino originals through the Mikhail Red-helmed Dead Kids, one of its actors, Khalil Ramos, still couldn’t believe that he is part of the film.

During the red carpet premiere of Dead Kids held on Sunday, November 17 at the Gateway Mall, Khalil Ramos shared how he feels about the thriller officially being the first Filipino Netflix original film.

“It’s crazy. For me, ngayon lang talaga siya nagsisink-in. When we came in, we saw all these banners - all these posters. We just got sent the trailer a couple of days ago. And we knew months ago that we’re good to go on Netflix pero it’s crazy. It’s huge! And we did’t expect it to be this huge,” he told PUSH in an exclusive interview.

While Khalil has proven himself to be one of the country’s most talented young actors today, things didn’t come easy for him as he reveals that he personally sent a message to Red to audition for the role.

“Ako, personally, I auditioned. I texted Mik [Mikhail Red] out of the blue when he posted a casting call audition for the role. And sobrang it’s just a big turn of events for me. And I’m really excited, I’m really honored. And to be able to share this with everyone - all the Filipinos,” he stated.

Ramos, who describes Dead Kids as a ‘cautionary tale,’ said the film is a reflection of the Filipino youth today.

“For me, Dead Kids is kind of a reflection of the Filipino youth - of our generation - and how our decisions are just so sometimes super wrong. And it is a cautionary tale. And whenever we talk about Direk Mik about it, that’s what he always says it’s a cautionary tale and a reflection of our youth right now. So maraming makukuha ang mga Pinoy in terms of sa mga hindi nila pwedeng gawin sa buhay,” he said.

Dead Kids, which is set to premiere on Netflix on December 1, also served as the closing film during the 15th year celebration of the Cinema One Originals film festival.
