After transferring to Viva Artists Agency from Star Magic less than two years ago, Apple of My Eye star Marco Gumabao said he has no regrets about his decisions for his career. “I can’t say that it’s the right decision. It‘s just a good decision maybe na I took myself out of the comfort zone and then I tried new things even though I knew na there was a risk involved or baka malalayo ako sa ABS-CBN. I did it because I believe also in Viva, na may magawa sila sa career ko and thank God naging maganda yung paglipat ko. Yung relationships na naiwan ko before sa Star Magic and sa ABS-CBN maayos pa rin lahat. So dun ako very thankful. I believe kasi for every artist, merong management na bagay sa iyo. You just have to find it. So yun lang yung akin. It doesn’t necessarily mean na hindi magaling yung pinanggalingan mong management or agency, it’s just for every artist iba iba. It depends on every person,” he explained.

Even after starring in the teen-oriented show Luv U opposite Miles Ocampo which lasted until 2016, Marco said he did not get impatient after waiting for his next big break in the afternoon soap Los Bastardos. With his close friend Daniel Padilla having gotten a headstart in his career, Marco said he never felt insecure about DJ’s success. “Well hindi. I was patient. I trusted my journey. Because before kasabay ko sila Daniel yung mga kabarkada ko. So if anyone asked me, ‘Hindi ka ba nainggit?’ Hindi eh. Wala sa akin mainggit. It’s just that you get inspired na abutin mo yung mga kaibigan mo. Instead of pulling them down, humabol ka. Kasi sila may nagawa na sila para mapunta sila sa estadong yan or sa spot na yan so what can you do in order to go there and be in that spot? For the longest time I’ve been in showbiz seven years na pero last year two years ago lang nag-kick off talaga yung career ko and I’m really thankful because ayoko rin nung overnight success. Ayoko yung tomorrow sobrang sikat ko na agad because for me mas mahirap i-maintain yung ganun. Ako gusto ko yung pagdadaanan mo yung every step of the way, slowly and surely,” he said.

Marco said he has no plans to transfer home networks anytime soon. “Ako kasi I’d want to stay in ABS-CBN. I never want to leave siyempre. As of now naman, the projects in ABS-CBN are coming so I’m very happy for it,” he added.
