After Kris Aquino aired her dismay towards ex-partner Philip Salvador who used her name as a joke during a campaign sortie, the actor broke his silence and issued a statement saying he would always respect the mother of his son.

Kris and Philip first met in 1994 while making the movie Nandito Ako. She was 23 then while Philip was 17 years older. Kris soon got pregnant with Joshua but their relationship eventually ended in 1999.

“She's still the mother of my son. I respect her and I will always respect her for the rest of my life. That is my statement," Philip said, according to ABS-CBN News. (Read: ‘I will always respect her’: Phillip Salvador responds to Kris Aquino’s tirade)

During Kris’s live video session, she said that she used to say nothing but good words towards him because she thought that he was a good man. She pointed out that he could have been more sensitive not to include her name in the joke that was done in bad taste.

“Sana naisip mo, that line — ‘Naloko mo si Kris Aquino’ — what does that make of your son? Produkto siya ng panloloko?” she said.

According to Kris, the last time Josh and Philip met was at the ABS-CBN compound in 2012. In a comment in Lolit Solis’s post, she said that she’s hurt by the joke because their son also saw the video and understood the context.
