Ronnie Alonte dedicates his All Star Games performance to his lolo with stage four cancer

As part of the winning Star Magic Warriors team who bested Vice Ganda’s <a href="https://entertainment.abs-cbn.com/tv/shows/itsshowtime/main">It’s Showtime</a> All Stars team, Ronnie Alonte said it was a different experience playing against his fellow artists even though he has been playing basketball all his life. “Medyo mahirap kasi nagkakapaan kayo eh. Tapos hindi niyo alam kung okay lang ba magkasakitan kasi parehas kayong artista. Pero kasi minsan sa pinapakita din ng players kagaya ng pinakita ng Showtime lumalaban talaga sila so talagang lumaban din naman kami,” he told PUSH.In the exciting basketball game which ended in double overtime, Ronnie said his favorite moments happened during the extended period because of their tied scores. “Kasi nung overtime lang talaga ako pumasok kanina. Third and fourth quarter natuyuan ako ng pawis. Ayoko na. Ayoko na talaga. Eh nag-overtime. Sabi sa akin ni coach, ‘Maglaro ka na.’ Nagsintas ako. Naglaro ako. Sinubukan ko pa din,” he recalled.Before his match, Ronnie was also happy to finally witness his girlfriend Loisa Andalio’s volleyball game backstage. “First time ko siya nakikitang nag-ba-volleyball live. Nakakatuwa kasi parehas kaming may sports, volleyball siya, basketball ako,” he said.When asked who inspired him to play so well during the action-packed game, Ronnie revealed that his grandfather was his biggest inspiration. “Para sa lolo ko na nasa hospital yun. Nasa stage four na cancer siya. Siyempre para sa family ko din at kay Loisa (Andalio). Pero sa lolo ko talaga,” he said.
