‘This is heartbreaking’: Former ABS-CBN artist RR Enriquez pens message for former colleagues

<p>A day after Congress denied ABS-CBN of a broadcast franchise, RR Enriquez — who rose to fame as one of the dancers of the now-defunct variety show Wowowee — penned a lengthy message for the company that jumpstarted her career in showbiz. </p><p>Heartbroken over what happened to the media giant, RR began by writing: “<em>This is heartbreaking. Ako ay isang produkto ng ABS-CBN. From White Castle to money girl turned host ng Wowowee, Banana Split main cast and Pabida Ka host</em>.”</p><p>RR likewise recalled how the Kapamilya network made her first US trip possible, saying the company gave her nothing but good memories throughout the years. </p><p>“<em>ABS-CBN (Wowowee) din ang unang nagdala sa akin sa US kaya never ko makakalimutan ang show na ito! Sobrang saya at ganda ng experience ko sa ABS-CBN</em>,” she stated. </p><p>While it has been nine years since she last appeared in ABS-CBN, RR said people still recognize her as the girl from Wowowee and Banana Split thirteen years later. </p><p>“<em>God used this company para maging daan at marating ko kung ano man ang meron ako ngayon. At kahit wala na ako sa showbiz, nagagamit ko pa din ang pribilehiyo na yun, na galing ako sa ABS-CBN. 13 years na ang nakakalipas but some people still recognized me by saying RR ng Wowowee or RR ng Banana Split</em>,” she wrote. </p><p>RR, who now runs a number of businesses, shared how <em>ABS-CBN</em> helped her entrepreneurial endeavors in one way or another. </p><p>“<em>Patuloy pa din akong natutulungan ng kumpanyang ito, lalo sa aking businesses. Dahil mas madaling magtiwala ang tao sa akin dahil alam nila na galing ako ng ABS-CBN</em>,” she stated. </p><p>RR likewise pointed out that no company is perfect — and that the company deserves to be recognized for its many contributions to society. </p><p>She stated: “<em>Walang company na perfect! Kung sa tingin nyo na meron sila naagrabyado, sana maisip nyo na meron din silang natulungan. Even ang President natin hindi perpekto, pero gusto kong maniwala na inaayos niya yung feeling niya na hindi tama sa pagkatao niya. Ganun din ang ABS-CBN. Kahit ikaw ganun ka din siguro. Yes, ikaw na nakakabasa nito</em>!”</p><p>Calling out those behind the shutdown of the network, she stated: “<em>Sa mga taong nasa likod ng pagsara ng ABS-CBN, wala po kayong pinagkaiba sa isang kumpanya na nang agrabyado din ng mga tauhan nila. Dahil sa pagpapasara nyo at sa kagustuhan nyo na matanggal ang ABS-CBN. 11,000 workers lang naman din ang inagrabyado niyo (and more)</em>.”</p><p>RR also lamented the decision of members of Congress to stop<em> ABS-CBN’s</em> broadcast operation in the middle of a pandemic. </p><p>“<em>Ngayon niyo pa talaga ginawa yan. Ngayon na alam niyong hirap na hirap ang tao kung saan kukuha ng panggastos dahil sa pandemic na nararanasan natin. Kayo ang tunay na coronavirus ng lipunan. Dahil kayo ang tunay na pumatay sa pangarap at kabuhayan ng mga taong nagtatrabaho dito. Mas malala pa kayo sa coronavirus</em>,” she stated.</p><p>Lastly, the former actress gave a message to the people of the company that she got to work with — including the talents and staff — in her many years with the Kapamilya network. </p><p>“<em>Sa mga artistang kaibigan ko na nasa ABS-CBN at sa mga staff ng ABS-CBN na hanggang ngayon kaibigan ko pa din. (at kahit hindi ko kilala) Sa lahat ng mga nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa kasakiman ng ibang tao. Kapit lang po kayo. Pang hawakan nyo po and mga salitang ito!
