Japanese actor Haruma Miura commits suicide at 30

Japanese actor and singer Haruma Miura, who was cast in the two-part live-action adaptation films of the popular manga series Attack on Titan, was found dead by his manager in his home in Minato, Tokyo last July 18. According to the Japan-based website Kyodo News, the 30-year-old actor was discovered to have hung himself in his closet at home after his manager went to check up on him after he failed to arrive on the set to shoot scenes for the upcoming TBS drama Okane no Kireme ga Koi no Hajimari (The End of Money is the Start of Love). Haruma was immediately brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police authorities believe that the Japanese star took his own life with an apparent suicide note found inside his bedroom.

His final social media post on Instagram came three days ago when he revealed that he was working on a show for TBS network which was set to be released in September. Haruma made his acting debut in the television drama Agri when he was seven years old in 1997 and has starred in the many notable Japanese series like Koizura (Sky of Love), Gokusen, Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You), Last Cinderella, and Attack on Titan. He was also cast as a lead in the Japanese production of the Broadway musical Kinky Boots for which he won the Haruko Sugimura Award in 2017 for his role as a drag queen named Lola.

Following his death, his management announced that “Night Diver" is now scheduled to be released posthumously on August 26, 2020.
