Boy band One Direction is set to mark its 10th anniversary with a special treat to their fans.

Breaking their two-year hiatus, the four-piece act teased this news on its official social media accounts on Wednesday, July 22, by posting an image with the text, "10 Years of One Direction."

"Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D," the band wrote in its caption.

Notably, the group also changed its profile picture and header on its Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

Naturally, the teaser ignited a social media frenzy within minutes after it went public online. On Twitter, “#10YearsOfOneDirection” and

“#10YearsOf1DMoments” topped the trending list, with fans expressing happiness and enthusiasm over the surprising update.

Later, it was revealed that One Direction have been working on a special video to celebrate their 10th anniversary with their loyal fans.

“The video will document highlights of the band’s career, from forming on The X Factor to releasing their single ‘History,’ including clips from music videos, performances and candid behind-the-scenes video content. And of course the special relationship they have with their fans,” shared the band’s PR firm, Simon Jones, as reported by E! Online.

Aside from the video, One Direction are also set to launch an immersive fan experience website called “10 Years of One Direction,” which will chart the history of the group—from the first audition on the British show "The X Factor," up to the start of their hiatus.

“It will host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place,” the release said.

Fans will be able to generate their own shareable “mixtapes” playlists on the site, as well as browse new content on Apple Music and Spotify, and even hear Alexa sing “Happy Birthday” to One Direction. But that’s not all—reformatted EPs will include “B-sides and rare songs, remixes, live recordings and acoustic versions of tracks grouped into one place for fans to rediscover.”

One Direction have been a global phenomenon.

Composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlison, the band has sold over 200 million records worldwide and has had more than 21 billion streams across all platforms, according to a release from Legacy Recordings.

Its former member, Zayn Malik, departed the group in 2015.
