Several netizens started shipping Bea Alonzo with Vico Sotto when the Kapamilya star met the Mayor of Pasig City to turnover the relief goods from the non-profit organization she co-manages called “I Am Hope.” But unknown to many, Bea felt a bit uncomfortable about how things turned out especially since she admitted that she simply went there to extend help to the local government unit of Pasig.

In an interview with movie and television writer G3 San Diego, Bea said she doesn’t want to make her humanitarian efforts all about her but rather about what it’s all about and why she and her friends are doing it.

“We have a responsibility nowadays to make everyone aware about what’s happening. And so that they could help, too,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bea also shared what she felt about the reaction of netizens toward her meeting with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto whose city was among the first her organization reached out to.

“Nakakatuwa ‘yung mga tao. Hiyang-hiya ako kay Mayor,” she said.

When asked if it’s her most liked photo during the quarantine, she answred: “I have not checked because I don’t usually check but I guess so. I think it was trending.”

On why she referenced “Four Sisters and a Wedding” where she played the role of the daughter of Vico’s real-life mom Connie Reyes in the film, she said: “Kasi I thought it was just funny. Kasi ‘yung time na nandun kami, we were murmuring about it. Even ‘yung taga I AM HOPE. So I thought it would be funny if I post something like that. So hindi ko naman inaasahan na magiging ganu’n.”

Sharing why she felt embarassed about the situation, she said: “Alam mo, after hiyang-hiya ako talaga. Nakakainis pa si Janus. ‘Yun ‘yung friend mo na nilalaglag ka. Alam mo ‘yun. Hiyang-hiya talaga ako sobra.”

According to Bea, Vico earned more respect from her when she witnessed the kind of service he delivers to the people of Pasig.

“Alam mo I have so much respect for him because first-hand nakita ko how his people respect him. And talaga sobrang organized sila du’n. They practice social distancing, may sistema talaga du’n. So mas tumaas ‘yung respeto sa kanya in fact,” she said.
