Michael Pacquiao — the son of Senator and boxing champ Manny Pacquiao — has been getting massive attention lately due to his incredible talent in rapping.

Among the artists who most recently praised Michael was none other than Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda.

According to Chito, he was amazed by Michael’s song “Hate” — an original track of the young rapper — and called him great.

“Ayus din yung tugtugan ng anak ni Pacquiao a...nakakabilib. Orig nya ba yun? Kung oo, sobrang astig. Kung hindi, ok lang...ang galing nya pa rin,” Chito wrote.

While several artists and netizens are raving about Michael’s music, a comment on a video of him from an up-and-coming artist named Jason Dhakal did not sit well with many netizens.

“sh*t like this makes me want to stop making music honestly lol,” Jason wrote, quoting a tweet from ABS-CBN broadcast journalist and TV host Dyan Castillejo where Michael can be seen showing off a snippet of his song.

Meanwhile, Frankie Pangilinan — an artist born to famous personalities — weighed in on the issue and said she could relate with the “anak-ni culture” being raised by many against Michael.

Frankie began by writing: “Yo I think Jason Dhakal was right and endlessly + tenderly is fire and he’s talented af and he along with so many local artists deserve more hype srsly why was everyone so mad.”

She went on: “It’s not entitlement either wouldn’t u likewise be heartbroken to be working ur pwet off at ur passion only to see something relatively mediocre take off so fast? the video had its own value and it was fun but listen to jason’s music that rly takes tiiime and energy to cultivate.”

“I’m on the receiving end of that anak-ni culture too and yea it’s wrong and it sucks and it needs to stop,” she continued.

She concluded her post by saying: “It‘s not Michael’s fault either it’s nobody’s fault it’s just a flaw in the cultural landscape we can hopefully repair one day soon.”

Rapper Dello, on the other hand, wrote in a Facebook post: “May talent si Michael Pac. Yung isa, di ko alam... di ko pinakinggan eh.”
