Big Hit Entertainment — the South Korean company behind legendary K-Pop group BTS — is set to launch three new K-Pop groups in the next two years.

Earlier today, August 13, Big Hit Entertainment held a corporate briefing through a livestream event where the Chairman of the company — Bang Si-hyuk — gave an update about the company’s performance so far this year as well as some of the plans for future.

While the company has struggled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the merger between Big Hit and Pledis Entertainment helped to somehow turn things around especially since the album sales of all the artists under the roster of both companies turned out great.

“The five groups of the Big Hit label were active in the first half. These five teams were great. NU'EST, BTS, Seventeen, GFriend, TXT, accounted for 40% of the album sales in the first half. 22 albums on the Gaon Chart 100," Si-hyuk said.

But what’s more exciting is the fact that three new groups are confirmed to debut under Big Hit — one this 2020 with members consisting of the winners from the MNet reality show “I-LAND”; a girl group in 2021 under subsidiary Source Music and another boy group in 2022.

"Big Hit focuses on creating good content, which is the essence of a content powerhouse. To this end, we continuously discover excellent artist IPs and develop our label portfolio. We cannot achieve results without artist music and content," he explained.

Meanwhile, BTS — which debuted under Big Hit in 2013 — remains the biggest K-Pop group in the world.
