Iza Calzado is celebrating her birthday on Sunday, August 16. She turned 38.

On Instagram, the actress posted a photo of her taking a dip as she marked her special day, which she considers her “most meaningful” after recently having survived the novel coronavirus disease.

“As I bathe in God’s love and light, I am filled with gratitude to be able to continue this beautiful journey called life — with a deeper understanding that every waking moment and every breath is a blessing,” she wrote.

Iza was among the high-profile celebrities to be infected with COVID-19, alongside veteran actors Christopher de Leon and Sylvia Sanchez.

She tested positive for COVID-19 after being hospitalized for pneumonia last March. She was cleared of the disease just two days later and has since made a full recovery.

In a separate post, Iza expressed her appreciation to all those who remembered to greet her on her special day.

“So much joy in my heart while reading your birthday greetings. I draw strength and energy from each and everyone of you. Maraming salamat!”

Among the local stars who greeted Iza on her birthday include Heart Evangelista, Sunshine Cruz, Ruffa Gutierrez, Mariel Rodriguez, Moira dela Torre, Eula Valdes, Marvin Agustin, Jessy Mendiola, Maxene Magalona, Coleen Garcia, Isabelle Daza, Sarah Lahbati, Georgina Wilson, Maricar Reyes, Isabelle Oli, Joao Constancia, Kylie Verzosa, and Jona.

Iza is set to return on television on Monday, August 17, via ABS-CBN’s new teleserye “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.” The show, which also stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Sam Milby, will air weekdays after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on the Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
